Buyer Beware! Our search for floors started with the usual big stores ( Home Depot / Lowes etc), we came across Universal Harwood Floors based on someone's recommendation to support local businesses. The sales experience was good, we found a good selection of floors, priced well. We purchased the floors through them. Under 24 hours after picking up the floors from their wholesalers in Van Nuys, we realized there's gorgeous floors underneath the floor we just removed and no longer needed the new floors. Called them back, to see if we could return the floors. Got a call back that there would be a 25% restocking fee on all materials purchased ( floors, glue etc ).

For an entire house order it was a significant amount. I tried to appeal to their human side to see if anything more reasonable would be possible. (I offered $1000 USD for the "inconvenience", but they wanted A LOT more). The policy was more intended for returns of excess materials purchased, not the entire order. Got a firm NO. I did check in with competitors & EVERYONE else has no issues refunding in 90 days, unless it was a custom designed floor order ( mine wasn't, stock engineered wood.) Sometimes big stores care more for their customers than "local" businesses for their neighbors! Expensive lesson learned. If you need floors, go elsewhere.

Have a beautiful solid wood floor now. Jeff Meltzer the COO was very helpful. Price reasonable. Their installer Gil Garcia and his crew did an excellent job. A gentleman and good to work with. Small side requests done without hesitation

I called Jeff on Saturday morning to conduct a series of sophisticated acoustic tests in my apartment for a lawsuit for noise nuisances Dispute in multi family apartment building. I was so impressed that he had all the logistics contacting me on the same day(Weekend) such as Sound Scientist and expert Witness, attorney with 30 years of the expertise in noise nuisance Litigation, Another attorney with construction specialty as a backup for second opinion and etc.

He is so responsive and he answered my emails on Sunday at 1 am promptly. If you have an issue regarding noise due to flooring, just call him and he has a complete team of experts that you need with the least price compared to others! Thank you Jeff I hope God makes it up to because I feel relieved now just because of you!

I never write reviews online, but Wendy and the team at Universal Hardwood were so amazing that I decided that this would be my first. They couldn't have been more helpful, nice, and patient with me. I had a hard time deciding which style I wanted, and they stood by me every step of the way, presenting different samples and options for months at a time. I didn't end up going with hardwood after all, but I would recommend Universal based on the customer service and great reputation. Definitely check them out.

My wife and I ventured into Universal Hardwood around 6 months ago. At the time, we were clueless on the various hardwood flooring types and grains. They were a joy to work with, loaning us many samples and answering many questions. Their knowledge of the hardwood flooring is impressive. We eventually purchased flooring for our dining and living rooms from them. The flooring looks amazing. I recently purchased hardwood floors for the remodel of my home from Universal Hardwood- they were very knowledgeable about all the various floor covering options as well as finishes. They took the time to help me find what was really best for me and I got just the right mix of rift and quarter sawn oak. The quality of the wood is superb and it is exactly what I was hoping for.
