This is my go to place for specialty woods that are not available at the big box stores. I love woodworking, and being able to find high-quality wood, and a high variety of wood species, is critical to creative works of art. What I really like is that they will do prep work for me to minimize the amount of rough cutting and sanding necessary. additional cost of course. But well worth it. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff, and very helpful in giving advice.

I needed some thin marine grade plywood for a project I am working on. They had it in stock and cut it to my request for free. I looked around and just had to buy a lovely piece of Teak I saw. The graining on it was lovely. Friendly, courteous, and prompt service without being annoying. I enjoyed the visit a lot.

Stopped in here last week because I was looking for wood table tops. I immediately saw that it wasn't that type of store but I was intrigued and looked around. Saw some pretty wood slabs still with the bark on them and asked what it would take to make them into table tops. The gentleman I spoke with was very helpful and I decided to give it a try.
I wasn't expecting to come home with wood slabs but they managed to squeeze them into my Camaro. A week later, I have 2 beautiful table tops in my winery. Are they perfect? Nope. Are they awesome? Absolutely! Will I do a project like this again? Quite possibly!

I Love Wood World. Having just recently decided to learn the ancient craft of turning wood into useful things; they are super helpful. If you are not careful, you could end up coming home with a whole bunch of Walnut like I did. I made a desk for my girlfriend who now works from home. I had never done anything like this before and thanks to their guidance, beautiful wood and the right urethane finish I bought there; it came out pretty amazing! I bought the standing desk legs from UpLift Desk online. Thanks for the Encouragement Wood World.

I've used this store for many years. I've purchased a large amount of specialty lumber at excellent prices, much cheaper than Home Depot and other specialty lumber stores. Additionally, I've bought high quality paints, waxes, and general brand finishes. I've also picked up a number of exceptional hand tools and other unique items.
Their prices are great and the staff are knowledgeable, helpful and fortunately they don't hover. This store is a gem and I'm glad they're open during the Covid period, though currently with reduced hours. This is definitely a store any woodworker or handyman doing projects should use.

The state they are open till 6pm on the way ebsite but now close at 5. Drove 45min to get there just to be told we close in 37 sec. Rude! I needed two pen kits for the weekend. I have shopped here before and never been treated that way. If they were not the only people I town who had the pen kit I needed I would have gone somewhere else. Very disappointing. I hope they get back to good customer service.

I am a beginning pen maker and the guys at the store have been very helpful with all my questions. They have even suggested alternative approaches when I was off track that actually reduced the cost of what I was trying to do. I have been several times and will continue to do business with them. Plus the store hours are very good.

They vary a great selection of lumber. If you're willing to look through their shorts bin, you'll find some quality cut offs. They also carry Japanese saws. I found an Azebiki nogiri which is hard to find in regular stores. When you get here, talk to Johnson the lumber section: fantastic guy and very helpful.

Love this store! I'm a hobbyist woodworker and have recently started selling some pieces and have had a need for a regular supply of 8/4 purple heart, walnut, maple and a few other hardwood species. My personal customer service experience has been outstanding with everyone there. The staff has gone out of there way to answer questions, make recommendations for wood (great tip to use jatoba vs. the more expensive paduak wood for example) and have been most helpful with wood choice, cutting large pieces down to manageable size and so on.
Only once in roughly two dozen trips up to the store to pick up wood have they not had exactly what I was looking for. Great store, great people, great selection of wood. -Daniel Scurlock

I enjoy Wood World. The selection is the best that I've found around here and they seem to cater to hobbyists rather than larger scale contractors. My only complaint would be that the prices are quite high. I don't mind paying good money for quality wood but I wouldn't be mad if they were a little more affordable. Their wood selection is leagues ahead of Rockler.
And places like Hardwood Lumber Co aren't an option unless you want to take a day off work to visit before they close at 4pm. So all in all, Wood World is a good option when making a nice project. I recently spent $700 on 6/4 Walnut to build a dining room table. Although expensive, the result exceeded my expectations.

My husband recently got into woodworking, so he dragged me here. Because apparently he thinks I am the type of woman who wants to tag along on a trip to Wood World. Next time I want to go to Northpark, you bet I'm making him come with me! But I digress. They have a lot of cool looking stuff here and the lumber room, while not huge, appeared to be well stocked and had a lot of neat looking wood.
But this is not the place to go if you have no idea what you're doing: two gentlemen walked in, I think looking for wood for a Boy Scout project, and while an employee talked to them a little bit, he didn't jump in and start asking questions or offering guidance or anything like that. For example, my husband's first few projects were fine using stuff from Lowe's, but as he's getting more experience and in search of fancier woods, Wood World is starting to get more visits out of him.
He likes getting stuff out of the scraps/shorts bin to mess around with. Anyhow, I'm not into wood, so I was bored out of my skull after about five seconds. But I mean, if wood's your jam, go to Wood World.

I went in looking for a generic butcher block countertop to go on a new set of kitchen cupboards, and wound up with them building a custom cutting-board-style counter for me! It only took a couple weeks and was priced very fairly. It's beautiful, easy to care for, and durable. Friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable staff. I browsed around a bit and they seem to have a good selection of interesting wood. They had some beautiful live-edge mantles that I'm going to keep in mind for when I redo my fireplace.

Went to ask advice and materials on a basic wood working project. Got the run around from everyone there. I should have known better, but I purchased some wood and had them mill it. All the cuts were off except for one when I inspected the boards after I got home. What a joke.they call themselves professional woodworkers. I called them back and was put on a long hold and finally hung up on. Had a very difficult time with Mitchell and his tone toward customers. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your time and money at this establishment. Needless to say. Another customer lost!

I have shopped here several times and have had positive experiences for the most part. The prices are higher than other providers, but I believe they do provide a better selection of product and are more conveniently located for me. I was able to get 16/4 mahogany through them recently for a set of table legs. This isn't a big box lumberyard. So, you may have to wait to get some help if they are busy.
My biggest gripe is that on the rare occasion that haven't had enough board feet of a lumber that I need for a particular project. They do carry a wide selection of domestic and exotic lumber, but lumber seems to go rather quickly after arrival.
