A true entrepreneur, Ona Love Bolyard began his business in 1937 by buying concrete formed lumber from the construction site of the Sears department store in Highland Park, Michigan, which he would then clean and sell from his home garage. Shortly thereafter, Ona opened the very first Bolyard Lumber storefront in Hazel Park where he expanded the business to sell lumber, paint, hardware, windows and trim.

Terrible customer service, just called to ask about purchasing wood planks for a business and the guy who answered the phone hung up on me. Wouldn't answer my questions and was short with me. Missed out on a business relationship that would've brought this company hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of business.

I had a window replaced on my home due to a bad seal. Tim the service technician did a fantastic job! The window was in a awkward place making it a tough install. Tim was very careful doing the install with no issues what so ever! Great company, Great technician who knew what he was doing! This is the place to go! FIVE STAR SERVICE!

I would not recommend Boylard to anyone I know. We purchased Marvin windows from Tony our salesperson back in February. We thought the "ultimate windows" came with inserts but he failed to mention they did not. That's fine, so we ordered the inserts back in April. I asked him for an update in May and he said they should be in any day now. 7 months later and still no inserts.
I have asked several times for an update since then and he continues to ignore my messages. I understand things are behind right now because of covid but this is just bad customer service. Definitely will not be using them for any renovation projects in the future.

Terrible customer service, several associates were extremely rude to my wife and I. Treated us like we were dirt. They missed out on $50,000 in material sales that we would have purchased from there but purchased at another store for our home remodel. Get over your attitude and learn respect and sales skills.

I have been a licensed builder for 30 years. I dealt with an OWNER JOHN MANIGOLD, He tried to double dip on profit. I paid my entire bill in advance of delivery. After forty five minutes on the phone, the head of accounts receivable could not find my two payments of 14,000.00 DOLLARS. John Manifold called my lead carpenter instead of me, the owner and told him that Bollard would not do business with me anymore because I had not paid my bill.
He did not even bother to check for himself and did not have the class to even call me directly, OUTRAGEOUS. I only dealt with Bollard instead of my usual Griesbeck Lumber, which is excellent, as a favor to my lead carpenter that like to work with one sales person, who ended up being hospitalized during my job. My lead carpenter had told me that that salesman was there only good one.
I sure believe that now. If, as a builder that spends hundreds of thousands of dollars per year on materials gets treated like I was, I can not even imagine how some poor homeowner with one project would be treated. Run from Bollard. There are other excellent places like Griesbeck Lumber who will treat you with respect and better prices than Bollard does.

I tried for weeks to order 2 custom wood exterior doors ($6k worth) through this company. My phone calls and emails went unreturned for 2 weeks before I finally got someone to work on my estimate, but only after an additional call to the Birmingham showroom from my father. I made minor changes to the quote and never received an updated quote after several calls. An additional 2 weeks went by and I ended up purchasing doors from Dillman and Upton for thousands more, but the customer service was 100 times better. I was also planning on ordering interior doors and exterior shutters but will not be using this company. My POC was Tom Alison.

I recently went to Bolyard in need of 3 new windows. They gave me a name to set up an appointment. I did so. Larry came out while my wife was home and acted un-interested but took measurements and told my wife he would call me the following day with prices and options. That was 3 days ago and still no call. Fortunately they aren't the only game in town.

Great quality lumbar and Tom Alison was a great help four our deck project. The lumbar at the big box stores is sub-par at best in most circumstances, for large projects that require quality wood that is straight with minimal defects I would recommend a quality lumbar yard like Bolyards. They are near our home and are open on Saturdays, both high convenience factors.
Odd sized and large sized lumbar are easily found here. All of the staff I was in contact with were knowledgeable and helpful. I won't lie, it's intimidating and some of the staff are definitely now the "easily approachable" type. I can see the one reviewer's comment that they do, on the surface, appear to cater to contractors; however, I felt once I started discussing my project with Tom that wasn't the case.

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE.BEWARE.I have been a long standing customer of Bolyard Lumber. I spent over $4,600 for screens for my new house including screen doors for doors that open to our backyard. I made it clear that we have small children - that the doors would be used frequently and that we wanted screen doors with push bars and toe kicks. They dropped off all of the screens.
As we were installing them the screen doors we noticed that the screen doors did not have push bars or toe kicks. I immediately contacted the owner of Bolyard Lumber, John Monigold, and requested to exchange them or return them. He told me that I should have known that they do not make screens with push bars and toe kicks and that the screen doors are special order and not returnable.
I explained that this was never made clear to me and that I never signed anything regarding the non-returnable nature of the screens. I requested any type of sales receipt that I signed indicating that the screens were not returnable. Not only was he not able to produce a sales receipt with their return policy but he was indignant and told me that "any reasonable person knows that this is not returnable". This is horrible customer service. I am now out over $3,000. I am contacting my credit card company. We will see what happens.

Absolutely the worst service. We origicanlly had custom windows made by them.no prob.then a storm took out the window. We were told it would take 2-3 weeks to replace.3 weeks later they still haven't ordered the window. Then another 3 weeks go by.no window. We called - they were rude and un-apologetic. Now it's the 4th week, they got the window in 4 days ago but have yet to deliver.
It was supposed to be today but they didn't show up.no phone call. Here we are with a hole in our bedroom window for the past 2 months. Having friends who are builders, I will never recomend or use Bolyard - for even my re-modeling.

I went to Bolyard to order a window. I was impressed with the selection of high-quality windows that they had. The woman who helped me, Amy, was knowledgeable and honest. The price was good and the window came when I expected it to, faster than I had been promised by another store, making me a happy buyer.
