The Ridgefield Supply Company has its roots in a lumber company founded in 1883. The 4 acre site on Prospect Street, now occupied by the retail outlet, started out as the Osborn and Gilbert Lumberyard. Richard W. Osborn and William O. Gilbert had their first lumberyard several miles down the road in Branchville, Conn.
Ridgefield Supply employs some of the most knowledgeable individuals in the industry. Many have been employed with us for over 20 years. Our employees are constantly receiving product training from our vendors, manufacturers and from leading industry programs. Not only will you find our staff courteous and professional they will oversee your needs and interests throughout any size project. Trimming is important. Trimming your fingernails, your budget, your hair, you grass, and of course your house. That's right this review is about how great Ridgefield Supply is at providing house trim. I brought in a thirty year old base trim that I absolutely could not match. I showed the gentlemen behind the solution counter, and in no time he had the profile matched to something similar. He ordered it and is expecting it in within 2-4 business days. Go get yourself some trim!

AMAZING experience as always. BUT this one Saturday one of the employees came thru in a big way! I needed something for an outside project and he went above and beyond, knowing that I'm racing against the winter clock! You will never ever get this kind of service from a big box store and sometimes you just need for the universe to align for you, as it happened for me. Thank you Tim!

Our go-to supplier on a number of recent home remodeling projects on our Ridgefield house for anything from paint to patio french doors to siding to cable railing. Products typically arrived on time (usually no longer the case at many establishments in the wake of Covid), pricing was always fair/competitive, and Ridgefield Supply was even able to quickly (overnight) source a temporary lock for our new (2 thick) entrance door when the permanent lock ordered took much longer than anticipated due to the unusual spec. Always helpful and communicative to boot.

This business is built toward catering to contractors, the hours and the prevailing aura as you walk in there confirm that. I have always felt some level of intimidation as I walk up to the counter and at times try to discuss with the customer rep what the best solution is or even ask what project I am trying to do to ensure a successful completion! (e.g., ask if it is an outdoor project and suggest pressure treated wood).
No doubt they are trying to cater to the weekend do-it-yourself homeowner with their new retail section, but come up way short versus Ridgefield Hardware in the way they offer to help the second you walk in- the one guy who gets it at RS is Zack who actually worked at RH! Because they were inconveniently closed at 1 on Saturday to buy a few pieces of lumber to finish a project, I went to Ring's End in Wilton and experienced a more welcoming environment as someone who was not wearing painting coveralls or contractor garb- refreshing!
I gave them an extra star only because it is a new, nicely upgrade facility, but there is some work to be done on how they treat consumers and homeowners not in the contracting business!

Wendy, you dont need to be a woman to receive poor service. I have been trying to buy all new exterior doors for our home at ~$15,000 and have had the most frustrating, unattentive, lengthy, inconsiderate and uncooperative experience one could imagine. Buying a car is easier than this! Un returned phones calls, missed appointments, days/weeks going by between quotes and responses and worse yet bait and switch pricing have left me to seek same product/s from other providers who are more responsive and reputable to deal with.

Best lumber yard in the area. Competitive in pricing and incredible customer service. You actually have the counter staff asking you if you need help. Yard guys are very welcoming. New buildings and all lumber is under cover. Incredible 1870 train depot with tracks! My kids love it there! I believe it is family owned. Know your money is going to the locals not the big box stores.
