Schutte Lumber

Very disappointed with the Customer Service. Bought a 24x8 wood and have them custom cut. They said turn around time is 3 days. I call to confirm every day as I am tight with my schedule. Its never ready when I call. They said my sales person Christian will call me if its ready. 3rd day, 4th day - no phone call! 5th day is a Sunday- THEY ARE CLOSED :- Monday, I will no longer have any assistant to help me. So disappointed. I will never buy from them again.

Good wood selection, but every time I go in the guys in the showroom seem put out that I am there.

Melvin delivered our lumber today and helped my husband carry it! He was great - and even got to my house before it was necessary.

The quality of their product is superb & the professionalism of the staff was quite impressive. They were exceptional in their knowledge regarding their product & offered helpful advice in the best selection & craftsmanship of the product. From one local small KC business to another, Schutte Lumber was amazing in helping us with what I'm sure is a very small order for them. I worked with Pete in sales who was patient and helped us find exactly what we needed for out job. Marvin just delivered our order and went above and beyond and was just the nicest. My review is strictly for the counter guy who waited on me. I'm a traveling Carpenter with over 40 years experience. I stay booked over 12 months out. I'm scheduled to be in KC on a project in October. This is July. I stopped by Schutte to inquire about what's available in a knotty T&G 1 by 6 for a job in October. The guy immediately gives me a speech about how he can't price anything or discuss availability for October.

We just don't know what we will have in October, blah, blah, blah! The guy was making me want to throw up on his shoes. I get it. It's the "Covid Curse". Here is my issue. He didn't offer one solution! Actually all I could think about was this, . If I owned this business I'd fire his negative sorry ass! I was ready to buy today for delivery between tomorrow to October. I'm tired of problem solving for people who are supposed to be in SALES! They lost about a $15k sale today.

Inventory is a little spotty due to the pandemic, but otherwise great selection for wood workers. The folks working here are amazing too. Knowledgable, friendly and they give me space when I just need to browse materials and prices.

Visiting from Atlanta to do an old house restoration, they provided the same expert help we've appreciated for many decades. This place is a gem.

They did not have individually wrapped masks for use when I needed one. They did come outside to allow me to pick up my order "curbside". If you dont have a mask of your own to take they dont offer any that are completely safe.

Great customer service. Great selection of lumber. Every time I go there Pete helps me with what I need. From lumber to Festool tools they have great products.

Icalled on Tuesday and asked if they carried 4/4 sapele. the sales person said yes, So I drove 2.5hrs to buy some. When I asked about it, I was told it was 3/4; and that's all they carry! 60$ of fuel, and 5hrs down the drain! I'll go back to Austin Hardwoods in Denver. At least they know what they sell!

Best, maybe only (?) local lumber company. They have quality products both in the yard and in the store. If you have a project that uses wood this is the place to get it. They load it and you tie it down. I've never been disappointed.

Absolutely fantastic location to get wood for any project or any level wood worker. The selection is absolutely incredible. Pricing is very competitive for both hardwoods and dimensional lumber. Great source for an average wood worker or professional.

Bought lumber for our front porch railing. Grade #1 pressure treated pine. There was only one usable piece out of the whole order. Was told "that's how it is" even cedar we only have to have one good side. Returned the whole order, drove to Home Depot and got beautiful cuts of pressure treated cedar for 35$ less than they charged me for the pine.

Local lumber yard! Gotta support that or else they're gone, and you're left with the junk at big box stores. Don't know much about lumber, as this was my first adult build-task, but these guys were helpful enough. Some were a little gruff, but still helpful regardless. They have lots of options/types, and we were able to find what we needed or at least close enough approximations. Huge bonus: They have a complimentary tie down station to help you make sure your lumber safely makes it to your home. Kudos for that!

I have been a customer for years. The selection of woods and the variety of cuts stocked always makes my hunt easier. There are sales of exotic wood species from time to time (I once built some great cabinets for a client out of wenge, and luckily it was marked down almost 30% for that month). They always accommodate me if I have a special request.

I don't know what the guy before me was complaining about, but it's obvious from the new buildings on the property that Schutte is doing just fine. Kansas City is lucky to have this resource.

Horrible customer service. Horrible return policy. Don't know how this company stays in business. I tried to return an item that was still in it's unopened box and they wouldn't take it back. They must be in financial trouble to have such a poor return policy.

I guess contractors and DIYers are not Yelpers?! How this place has not been reviewed is beyond me. Custom milling. Exotic woods. Good service. I could drop some serious jack in here and just saw my life away. And it smells good here. :
