Desert Wind Shutters

A big shout out to Desert Wind Shutters! My husband and I are truly impressed with the quality and service Ivan and his team provided for our new shutter and replacement of some existing shutter louvers (the previous owners of the home allowed their dogs to claw deep scratches in the wood with their nails). We first called another company that couldn't help because they were unable to custom make/match the existing shutters but they recommended Desert Wind Shutters. Ivan came out and measured, I explained what I wanted fixed and created, and he made it all happen for more than a reasonable cost.

The stain color of the wood is spot on and the style matches our other window casings perfectly. Ivan and his professional team had everything installed within an hour. We are super impressed and we don't pass out compliments freely. Best in class! (These companies still do exist. I was losing hope).

I will preface this review with the fact that I am VERY detail oriented and these shutters were very expensive ($8,000 for 7 windows). 1: Although the shutters were very nice the installation did NOT meet our expectations. On some windows there were very noticeable gaps between the wall and the shutter frame. Large enough that we could see the screws that were used to mount to the walls (see image). Granted, this is not a flaw with the shutters but with the installation in my opinion (see below). 2: I was astounded that the installers did not utilize pilot holes when drilling the screws threw the frame and into the wall.

The frames were splintered (see image). Again, being detail oriented, I found it unacceptable that the screws and splintered wood were visible when viewing from the side (see images). 3: The installation crew left a mess on the floor when they removed the old vertical blinds. Really? The customer is required to clean up after the installation. We even discovered our dog was chewing on a piece of plastic from the old vertical blinds. 4: We were not informed that the crew must have touched up some blemishes with paint.

My wife touched the shutters and got paint on her fingers. Additionally, there was paint on the floor that we had to clean up. Follow-up We shared our dissatisfaction with the installation. Desert came to our house roughly a week after we contacted them. Adding salt to the wound, I felt like our dissatisfaction was being dismissed by Desert and that we were being unreasonable "we have been doing this for years.". Frankly, look at the images and you be the judge.

They did complete some slight modifications which did provide some improvement. However, why wasn't this done initially (back to my "attention to detail" expectations). I summary, it is early and we are satisfied with the product but not with the installation (again, see images) and somewhat with the company given our follow-up experience. My wife even showed them "this is were we found the paint on the floor". No acknowledgment of their sloppiness let alone an apology. Just sharing my experience for others to factor into their decision.

We recently bought a new constructed home that has lots of non-standard windows, including a multiple panel glass door. I wanted our new home to look it's very best, so I contacted Desert Shutters to help me choose window treatments. I was able to get a meeting with Connie at our in-process construction to discuss all the different options that fit into our budget. Connie looked at our paint colors, flooring, and decor preferences and helped me to pick out a full range of window treatments.

We chose shutters, electronic roller shades and panel drapes that complimented our furnishings. Connie was so patient and offered solutions to ensure that we loved everything and didn't feel like we had to go on the cheap to fit our budget. After the order was placed It took about 4 weeks for everything to come in. Once it did, Desert Shutters installed everything. Connie came over to assist James with hanging the drapes to ensure that they were perfect. and they are! Window treatments are so important and there has not been a moment I regretted this investment.

Great Company! I have been a customer for over 16 years. John is the BEST! He is very professional and great person. Their products are top quality and have stood the test of time. My shutters look as great today as they did the day there were installed over 16 years ago. The block out the sun in this Arizona heat and they look fabulous. I remodeled a room and had to have a shutter moved. John came out and moved it in no time and it looks great in the new window.

Ivan was extremely professional and knowledgeable. Received quotes from two companies in town. Desert Wind wasn't the cheapest, but I thought their product was better and valued the opinions Ivan shared about the shutter options for our home. Installation day was quick and easy! Super happy with the outcome of the project and would definitely recommend them!

We have been customers of Desert Winds since 2019. We remodeled our kitchen & we hired Desert Winds (Ivan) to make shutters for the windows. The following year we hired them (Connie) to make window coverings for our family room. She recommend Silhouettes & curtains (side panels) & they look wonderful. This year we hired the company (Connie) to make living room coverings (Silhouettes), and again a job well done.

We have an appointment for additional side panels next week & we are so excited. The installer (James) is very professional & personable & he won't leave until the customer is 100% satisfied with the installation. For instance the Silhouettes we purchased are soft touch motorized and he explained how they work and the warranty. His professionalism continues with the installation of drapes.

He continues to make sure they are pressed & hung to the customer's satisfaction. We highly recommend this company and we plan on using them for our bedroom window coverings as well.

Connie was extremely helpful selecting window coverings complimentary to our home. The products are exceptional. James completed the installation perfectly! We are very satisfied with the final results!

I used Desert Wind for draperies throughout my new home. Connie came out with numerous books, the selection choices were great and she was very helpful in assisting with choices. Connie kept me informed throughout on status of order and when to expect. James installed the drapery and rods, did an excellent job and was very conscientious of my home and picking up and cleaning afterwards.

While James installed Connie got hardware ready and steamed drapes once hung. The fabric is rich and beautifully sewn, we could not be happier. I have owned numerous homes and this was the best experience with draperies I have had. I highly recommend this company, what outstanding professional personnel!
