I'm a regular customer here and the lumber and trim is of a better quality and cheaper than the big box stores. The service is amazing, if you want to go somewhere where they call you by name, this is the place to become a frequent visitor. The hardware store itself has everything you could think of and a lot you wouldn't.

3 weeks ago I wanted to order an entry door, the guy sitting at the counter was pretty disgruntled that I didn't bring in the book with the model number even though he had the book sitting on the counter. I showed him the door in his book. I told him 36" x 80" and the jamb is 4 9/16. He replies that doesn't mean anything. He asks for some off the wall measurements and I say that's all I have, he just rolls eyes and shakes head.
I tell him what color I want and he says oh you want them to paint it also, um yeah paint or stain whichever. Now I really don't know what you want he says. Its easy 36x80 door jamb is 4 9/16 and I want it dried cranberry color. He says Im going to have to call them and try to explain this to them, I'll call you with a price. I had already been to 3 other places and gave them the same measurements and they all went on the computer and gave me a price in minutes no problems at all.
I walked out laughing saying he will never call me, and he hasn't. Just wanted to give a local place the business, but I guess they would rather be rude. If you don't want to deal with customers, why don't you just retire and be miserable on your own time. I will never go in there again. So if you need anything go to Len Co lumber where the staff is very helpful and professional.

Went into store. All 3 mature (>60) adults were on their phones texting. No one else around. Still they took their time to finish then i got helped. Had a problem w my online order where wrong thing was canceled by Ace and i was refunded for wrong item. Once i explained that to them they wanted no part of it. It was liked i asked them to derive Einstein's theory of relativity from scratch. AVOID AVOID AVOID BTW, online help was worse if that's even possible Lost 1 customer today for life. and no, if the owner is going to respond w some form caged meaningless apology with no contact into then no im not interested. I instead fix ur store Its funny im looking at the most recent negative review by John Davis and it's THE SAME PROBLEM. Apparently they fixed NOTHING

I would not recommend this business. I've wasted a great deal of time and have been extremely disappointed in their inability to provide basic customer service. 12/28/20 shopping Clarence location. 12/28/20 items not in stock at store. 12/28/20 online order placed, paid PayPal. 01/06/21 emailed order ready for pickup. 01/09/21 traveling to pickup, emailed your order has been cancelled. 01/09/21 call store, order still available, must pay for items again, don't care you already paid, you paid them not us, no cash no take. 01/09/21 call Ace Customer Service 800 number. "Yes, prepaid order cancelled because you didn't pick up in two days.
You'll probably eventually get a refund, meanwhile you'll just have to repay to get the items - sorry - have a nice day!" Two days between notification and cancellation, prepaid order, no refund, having to repay and hope for the best is no form of customer service. Most bizarre business plan I've ever seen. How much time do you have to waste? Horrific experience - never again! UPDATE: I desperately need these items and was forced to go to the store.
Found my prepaid items on their shelf for sale. Had to purchase the items a second time. Now a PayPal dispute to recover my initial payment. This was just plain theft of my prepaid items. Absolutely unbelievable a company could be this dishonest.

Recently bought my husband a Weber gas grill for Father's Day, but unfortunately, I purchased a propane instead of natural gas one. I didn't realize it until my husband opened it. I ordered online, and had it sent to Gui's Ace Hardware where it was assembled and delivered to me. When I discovered the problem, I called and asked to exchange it for a natural gas grill (same price).
At first they said I needed to bring it back, and they would try to get another one. After a lot of run around, they said they wouldn't take it back because it was assembled. They were rather rude, and hung up on me. I then contacted Ace.com, who arranged with Schuele Hardware to return the grill. Amy, the manager, was a delight to work with and very accommodating. I obviously will not be doing business with or recommending anyone to go to Gui's and would like to thank Amy very much for her help!

I needed 50 2x12x20' planks and they're the only lumber yard that had them in stock. I had them delivered and soon found why they had them. 'Most had end splits. Some had splits all the way down the plank. One was missing a 4" x 14" corner. Then there was one with 2" x 5' strips just hanging on. Last was the one that was split though the center and one side of it was broken.
When I picked up one end the other end barely lifted. This one was weathered and in the middle of the pile so their people knew about it and sent it anyway. Finally, the widths varied from 11.25" to 11.6" which means several had to be rip cut as I was using them as joists and I want a flat floor. The rest of my lumber was bought from Len-co and Home Depot and was excellent. Lesson learned.

I needed hickory lumber for my daughters cabinets I'm building. I stopped over to GUI's lumber. Very nice and helpful. I asked for first choice hickory, meaning I didn't want the dark mineral makes. GUIs called me and asked me to stop over to see if they had what I wanted, they said they didn't want to disappoint me. Wow, awesome customer service.
I stopped by and the wood was perfect. Gui's planned some and again asked me to stop by and check what they had, again awesome. They had my order ready in three days. If you need special wood, have it planed perfect, then you need to use this company. They do it perfect. Thank you everyone at GUI's. Mark

My brother who is a professional recommended Gui's when I needed to buy lumber for a small DIY job. After price checking four places, their lumber cost came in about 20% less than the next lowest price and they delivered it for free. When I made the mistake of ordering more than I needed, they picked up the remaining materials and refunded the full cost, I did not have to do anything.
It is nice to know there are still local companies that care about the customer, even on small jobs. I don't get that level of service and knowledge from big box stores. This place is your best option to save money on your project costs and keep your dollars local.

This Ace HW is downright huge. Tools, drill bits, lighting, wheelbarrows, lumber galore, you name it they have it. It is very clean and well organized as well. The guys working there are not short of opinions which is a good thing. This is the best place to go for hardware and home improvement items in this neck of the woods.
