We've recently experienced some problems with the machine we use to make our switchplates. After diagnosing these problems and because of the economic situation we find ourselves in during these uncertain times, we have made the difficult decision to stop making switchplates. We have both enjoyed running this business for almost 20 years, but find that it is no longer economically feasible to continue to do so.

Columbia Gorge Stoneworks Inc. consists of my wife Jamie, and me. We work from our home in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area near the Columbia River 70 miles east of Portland, Oregon, but on the Washington side. We always wanted to work from home so after remodeling our bathroom and installing slate I came up with the idea of stone switch plates.
Thank you for the samples. We will offer this to our clients to further distinguish our company against the competition. I wanted to let you know the plates arrived and they look fabulous. The attention to detail is excellent and I am sure my customer will love them when i get back to install them. I look forward to future projects using your products.
In an effort to have a switchplate with no exposed screws we have figured out a way to use magnets glued to the backside of the switchplates to hold them in place. Not only do they look much better but they are easier to install and there are no screws to over tighten, which will cause your switch plates to break.
This gives a very clean look but it does take more work and planning than conventional installation methods. Since the switchplates are 1/4" thick and your tiles are 3/8" thick plus the setting compound the area under the switchplates needs to be built up. This can be done several ways but I believe using setting compound would be the best and easiest.
