I got to tell you as a person in construction for over 30 years and working in Manhattan every distributor is less than a mile in every direction I have found Dane and sons to be absolutely amazing I did an extension on my house and they were absolutely 100% helpful caring was able to talk to them they explained every aspect of what I was buying what I was doing what was good for me and what I was wasting money on.

Do I recommend this it is imperative that you have people that will actually help you save money and describe what you're building so you can achieve excellence truly appreciate everyone there it'll be too long of a list to name everyone that helped it was absolutely amazing thank you

They're ok for custom millwork and more unusual needs, but stay away for regular lumber. Retail prices are 30% above big box stores!

My wife sent me here to pick up lumber and I was skeptical as I had never heard from them and figured they were probably writing their own reviews. These reviews are the real deal! Hands down to the staff because they surely take pride in what they do and how they treat their customers. Their business is not just about making money but making sure that their customers leave happy so they can return to them.

If you are looking for lumber, give them a call, and you will confirm for yourself that just by the service they provide to you over the phone - they go far and beyond to assure that they provide you with the best service.

I was in need of lumber and found Dain's Lumber online. As always, anything I find online to me seems questionable. BUT, I have to honestly say that when I called them to inquire about the actual type of lumber and their prices; I was impressed by both! The representative that answered the phone - took their time to explain to me my concerns and actually educated me on the difference of the lumber that I needed.

Their prices also were by far the best (and I looked around). Then for the real test - I thought if the only reason why their prices were reasonable was because the quality of the lumber was very poor. Once again, they proved me wrong - my contractor agreed that the wood was of good quality and will definitely be using them again to continue the work in my home. Lastly, they assisted in loading the truck with the material - their hospitality was unreal to say the less.

Many might think that they actually pay for good reviews -- but unless you try them - you will not know what you are missing from this company! I will recommend and continue using them. Hope that they continue and do not change.! Thank you guys!

Dain's problem resolution department fixed a problem I had. The contractor told me he bought and paid for an order. Dain's says he did NOT pay. I am unsure what happened. After the problem resolution department got involved it was fixed in days.

The customer service of all staff is tremendous. This place clearly is run well. I needed some small pieces of wood cut and went into their mill section. I believe the staff member who helped me was Bob. He was very accommodating even though it was nearing closing time. I'll be back for sure and highly recommend this company.

Excellent service and attention to every detail of my job. Recently rebuilt my deck along with railings. James couldn't have had more patience and was always there for any question I had.

Dain's is a must. They haven't been in business for eternity without reason. First class materials. First rate knowledge and advice. The sort of expertise you get from well. experts. Not a big box store. If they don't have it in stock they will get it and fast. First rate crew. Everyone. Jeff, James, Bobby and all of them. Fantastic Lumber Mill for special projects. Oh, look at their deck display. Simply the best. I will always shop here.

I love the personal service. It is always a pleasant experience. A different world than going to Home Depot. They are very helpful and if they do not have what I need they are always happy to recommend the next stop.

What a great place. A family run business that has been in operation for 100 years - and rightly so. I ended up there on a Saturday afternoon in the middle of their annual deck and fence sale needing one small item and some advice. Everyone in the store was lovely and patient with my questions. A bonus was the hot dogs and hamburgers they were giving out to everyone. It made a nice lunch!

Both times I've come in here to get pricing on lumber, the guy (and it's been one guy in particular) has treated me like a moron. I'm not a moron, so that means he's just rude. I prefer to support local businesses but not in this case.

If you are looking for material or are simply a fan of local history, you need to check out Dain's Lumber on the Peekskill waterfront (opened in 1848, this place pre-dates the Civil War). Dain's made short work of getting me two cedar fence panels, which is probably a relatively minor sale for an operation of its scale. Nevertheless, Dustin Dain (a SIXTH generation owner) took the time to answer all of my questions and discuss options, even arranging for my order to be delivered EARLIER than expected (when does that ever happen at Home Despot). So from specialty items to anything more 'run-of-the-mill' (pun intended), I highly recommend this local slice of Hudson Valley history.

Fantastic place and people to work with. I have been doing business with Dain's for 32 years now. my husband and I have had three homes in that time but only one Lumber company. Dain's. the quality of their products and the professionalism and knowledge of their staff is outstanding. Plus. they have done custom and special order Lumber from their private mill that they own --- can't find that anywhere else in this area.

Our children now have homes of their own and are now Dain's customers as well. Thank you Jeff for many years and projects that you have helped us complete. our home is beautiful.

Called Dain's and talked to Bobby about my cabinetry needs for the bathroom we were installing. He made recommendations for manufacturers and types of cabinetry on the solid wood cabinets that we wanted and helped us coordinate colors with the new tiles and existing bathroom wood trim. I am thrilled with the result. When we were short on toe kick yardage Bobby shipped out another section quickly. The experience went off without a hitch. Thanks Bobby!

I have had only positive experiences with Dain's Lumber in years and years of business, from minor purchases like weather stripping to major purchases like all the lumber for a full home renovation. The team at Dain's is unfailingly professional, taking the time to understand what I need and make their best recommendations for a cost efficient, quality product.

They come to my house to take measurements themselves when I am uncertain of exactly what I need, they deliver products personally, and they find solutions to tricky repairs to an old house that doesn't always fit modern dimensions. Five stars is not enough!

I went to Dains with my architect, and the salesman was rude and condescending to him. When the salesman had a question as to the dimension my architect had specified, the salesman replied "Are you sure now, are you absolutely positive? " HOW RUDE.The salesmen acted like a bunch of school boys who had a substitute teacher for the day. Dain's is no longer a dealer for Anderson Windows that my architect specified.

They have a No-Name brand that my architect has never heard of. I was in their showroom and no one even asked if I wanted any help. I went to Williams Lumber in Hopewell junction, and the salesmen were Professional and courteous. They had Anderson Windows that my architect had specified. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME WITH DAIN'S.

It's right next to Home Mason, so you can cover all your wood and stone needs in one trip. Much better selection than Home Depot. Was the only place that carried "clear" drip edge for our exterior trim
