Ohara optical glass serves as the cornerstone of advanced optical systems and is widely used in digital devices, such as digital cameras, cellular camera phones, and LCD projectors. Our leading edge materials are also used in optical devices such as microscopes and astronomical telescopes. For many years we have been mindful of the environment through the development and manufacture of our ecologically safe glass types, currently melting more than 130 environmentally safe glass types that are free of both lead and arsenic.
Ohara is a world class supplier of high quality double-side lapped and polished substrates. We are currently supplying high end polished glass and glass-ceramic substrates for numerous applications including photomasks, DWDM filters and glass mastering. Our Super Polished Substrates are cleaned using our 16 bath Megasonic Cleaning Unit and inspected in our Class 100 Clean Room.
Ohara synthetic fused silica is produced by vapor-phase axial deposition and provides ultra-high purity, bubble free material. Ohara also supplies natural quartz made from high-purity crystals. Both hydrous and anhydrous (low OH content) quartz with low bubbles and high heat resistance are available.
Ohara Corporation now offers infrared materials including germanium, silicon, zinc sulfide, zinc selenide, and sapphire. The materials can be supplied in a large range of sizes and shapes including blank, polished, generated, and finished optics. Optical crystals provided by Ohara Corporation include CaF2, BaF2, MgF2.
