This review is for the purchase of mulch, not their stone products. We opted to buy some mulch here because they are located close to our home. We had not purchased from them previously because their price was so high ($35/yd vs. $27 at Mac's), but we only needed half a yd to finish what we were doing, so decided to save some driving time. We should have stayed on the road.

Half a yard of mulch is generally 8 of my wheelbarrows-full; the half yard we got from Great Lakes barely made 4. I will probably have to go to Menards and buy some of their bagged mulch to make up the difference between what I got and what I needed, so should have just made the drive up Hwy 53 in the first place. Will not buy this type of product here again.

The guys at Great Lakes Stone worked closely with me to engrave a memorial stone, to place under a tree we planted for my parents. I brought my own rock from our lake property. They helped with suggestions on wording, placement etc, and showed me several options. They were so patient in helping me, and the end result of the engraving was perfect. Reasonably priced as well. Would definitely recommend this company!

Yes! This place is great! I am a mason from Ely MN and I work almost completely with Great Lakes because of there customer service. The prices are competitive with others but you also get a very helpful walk through of all the products. They will help you find the right product that fits your look and your job. They are very knowledgeable about the industry and that is priceless when your looking for some pointers. I have even encouraged my customers to go and see them. Keep it up Great Lakes!

We went to look at fireplace stone here. I wanted to support a local company at just about any cost. Unfortunately I wanted a stacked stone or stackable stone that was finished on the ends. They told me nobody makes end pieces, only corners and that I would have to put sealer on the end cuts to make it look finished or use wood trim. I wasn't about to spend a premium to be unhappy with finished product.

I ended up mitering the ends and doing returns like how trim is done the way I was specifically told by multiple sales people at Great Lakes Stone that it couldn't be done that way. End result picture using Home Depot stone for 1/3 the price. No thanks to Great Lake Stone. Update: Pro tip Great Lakes Stone, you don't have to be rude in your response and write me off with belittling comments.

I've been in the stone masonry trade for 15 years and know all the in's and outs of the trade. This company knows stone! Great stone working tools and great stone products! You will not find better service! Great company and would highly recommend then for your next project!
