Hi, Tom Keller here, owner of The Blind Man. I, along with my son, Forrest, and my niece, Yvonne, operate The Blind Man of Colorado Springs. When I first got started in the "blinds" business back in 1988, there was not nearly the selection of window coverings as there are today. Today the options are almost limitless; from popular products like wood blinds and honeycomb shades to more contemporary styles such as modern dual "band" shades and privacy sheers to traditional plantation shutters. There are plenty of design options to select from and when it comes to functionality, there have never been so many choices.
Services
Along with my niece, Yvonne (the office manager), we are The Blind Man. We are the original Blind Man in Colorado Springs and opened this company in 1991 to be your full service window covering source. I've been in this industry since 1988 and I've seen it from all sides. I've worked in the factory building blinds; I've worked as an installer, personally installing over 15,000 blinds, shades, and shutters; and I've worked as a sales person for over 25 years. In that time I've seen a lot of dealers and fabricators come and then go and the common thread between them was their lack of service and professionalism.
Quality, Custom Made Products: We're proud to offer a comprehensive line of the finest window coverings available. We have over 30 years of experience in the window covering industry, so you can take comfort in knowing that we've hand-picked the window covering products and brands that work the smoothest, are the most reliable, and come with the industry's best warranties.
Technically a manufacturers limited lifetime warranty is a contract of sorts between you and the manufacturer; not the dealer or box store you purchased them from. So if you ever have a problem with a blind or shade, your local dealer is really under no obligation to fix it. Unfortunately, many customers have found this out this hard way.
Wood blinds (fake or real) are one of the most popular window coverings in the industry. They offer good light control and they are better insulators than their aluminum mini blind cousin. They are also less expensive than most other products available on the market today. Real wood blinds have been around for more than 60 years.

Tom Keller is a great businessman: very personable, reasonable, and responsive to his clients. He scheduled an appointment quickly and showed up as agreed. Tom lives in Rockrimmon and is a local business owner so I feel the need to patronize our local companies, especially when they do such good work, as Tom does. We have had him before and both times, he was quick and thankful that we used his services. Try Tom out, you'll be pleased with the results! Ron Rubin

I left a message about what I needed on his answering machine. It was a holiday weekend and he wasn't there. He never called back, so I went with someone else. I don't want to spoil his perfect rating, so I'll give 5 stars, but I was pretty disappointed with no return call after all the great reviews.

Edit - Reaching out to the company to see if they will support a repair. Will update the review pending that outcome. I inherited a house with a product from this company. The blinds were for a wide front window, with three sets of blinds set on one hanger. The two outer were half the width of the inner. These are plantation style blinds. They look great.
The problem is that in the mechanical part at the top there are at least 3-4 different places where the cords rub on sharp metal. The original cords wore out quickly, and when I tried to re-thread them, the same thing happened. I re-threaded a third time with stronger and more durable cord. Again, the same thing happened. This also made the blinds difficult to raise and lower since the cords were constantly getting stuck on metal.
I am not sure if this blind company is just reselling other blinds or building their own, but regardless, they should be either selecting better product to sell or manufacturing better product. Considering that the cord moving is a crucial part of blinds, I would expect that a blind company or blind producer could design a product with long life.

This is the fourth home that The Blind Man has served us well. I am still in love with our current blinds, plantation shutters and exterior sun shades that we purchased. Not only will Tom Keller give you a smile but he is all about excellent products and service. I'm always pleased to refer him to others too and plan to have him replace all the blinds in our next home - no question, Tom and his company are the best.

I had blinds installed in 2008 in my home in Colorado Springs by Tom. I've always been extremely satisfied with the product and the prompt service. I purchased premium blinds at an affordable and competitive rate. In 2011 I turned my home into a very nice rental property. After three different families have rented the home the blinds are still doing a great job providing privacy and insulation to the whole house.
I've had to have blind repairs twice in the past five years for some slight "abuse" (kids and pets) and some heavy wear. Repairs were easy to coordinate for, quick response time, fast service call, and very affordable. I would recommend the Blind Man to my family and friends and I will definitely use the Blind Man for my future blinds needs.

I had two deliveries scheduled for the same day -- a freezer and new blinds. My beautiful wood blinds were supposed to be delivered at noon and were up and hanging by 12:05! I've already given the appliance store a negative review since they have yet to deliver my freezer, and I wasted hours waiting around during the 2-hour delivery times they gave me.
I wish everyone conducted business like Tom & Linda Keller at the Blind Man. In addition, Tom did a simple repair on blinds we had purchased from them a few years ago. We have had nothing but great experiences working with The Blind Man. We shopped at several places like Lowes and online, but received the best prices, selection and quality from The Blind Man. No need to "do-it-yourself" with customer service like this! I LOVE my blinds and they warm and transform the rooms they are in.
