Star Building Materials is a family owned and operated business that started out in 1972 as a part-time used building materials business. Hershell and Nancy Freeman started the company and called it Star Used Building Materials. They let their 3 small children name the business. Since the children just happened to have a pony whose name was Star, they obviously thought this was the perfect name. The Freeman's ran it from a rented lot on Florence Avenue in Cincinnati, Ohio and worked there on weekends.

Some of the workers aren't very friendly. I say this only after watching 3 employees asking to help white people. When I asked the same employees for help and they ignored me. I was there before the other customers. However, I was completely ignored! At first I thought they couldn't hear me but then noticed it was more than that after the employee look me in my eye and walked away. Shocker right?! Idk if it was my hijab or skin of color. Perhaps both. I wouldn't ever go back to this location.
