Benson Stone

10 years ago, I bought a custom rocker from Bensons Stone, for over $2750. At the same time, I bought two cheap rockers, $500 each, from a (now closed) discount furniture store. At night, I sat in the expensive rocker from Bensons, and my sons sat in the cheap rockers, (and beat the snot out of them). A year ago, the Benson's rocker started making unbearably loud clunking sounds, so I called Bensons.

The chair had only a five year warranty. I had them repair it, replaced the entire base, for $300. Fast forward one year, and now the rocker is making really loud screeching sounds. Bensons has informed me there is no warranty on parts or service which they provide. I have this chair, which has been nothing but a headache, I will have put in over $3,300 to make it rock; and two other chairs ($500 each) which still rock perfectly well - my son even sleeps in them. Caveat emptor: spending lots more money does not always guarantee a more reliable product, or a more pleasant experience.

We had Benson Stone install Cali bamboo flooring the first week of August 2021. The installer was very difficult to work with and upset that he had to do this project all by himself. This set the tone for his workmanship. After the first day of installation, he had glue EVERYWHERE on the floor. It looked like a floor in a 100 year old barn. We contacted Tyler at Benson Stone immediately and sent pictures and asked if someone would come out and look at this mess and should we stop the installation.

They responded that we should keep going. It has now been six months of them sending one person after another out here to have chemicals dumped on the floor in an effort to remove the glue, an "independent" inspector (paid for by Cali) to come out and of course tell Benson that it's not Cali's fault. Nobody from management has been out here to even look at the floor even though we have communicated to Tyler that we are quite sure that Mr. Benson would not accept this floor in his house.

We are STILL working with Benson's on a solution but there is never a sense of urgency on their part to remedy this problem. We are at the end of our patience! In addition to the glue problem, the steps and flooring are now splitting. Nobody wants to take responsibility for all of this. I don't know if this was defective wood or as a result of chemicals used in trying to remove the glue.

All I know is this was no fault of ours! I was going to order furniture, rugs and lamps for this space as well from Benson's but not anymore! I will go to a store that actually cares about taking care of their customers. We held off posting any reviews to be fair and give Benson's the opportunity to resolve this problem but we feel they have had sufficient time to fix this and we are still no closer to a resolution.

Additional note: Bensons is arranging for another inspector to come out (which we have been waiting 3 1/2 weeks for him to show up.also paid for by Cali). What are the chances Cali will take responsibility for the splitting wood and not blame Benson Stone?

Cafe Food: Had coupon for free sandwich. Still wasn't worth it. Worst deli meat ever. Very salty. Cheese slice was stale. Tomato had no flavor. Bread was dense and clearly past sell by date. Condiments consisted of several varieties of mustard packets. Plus, even though portion was small (tiny bread slices) i left most uneaten. Benson Funiture: No sleeper sofas in stock - maybe to make room for huge display of $3,000 (single) swivel chair? Benson Stone: No crushed gravel or zen garden stone for sale.

Ordered a Chippendale sofa. I was informed up front that due to COVID-19 it would take awhile to be produce. The sofa arrived in perfect condition and great quality and delivered to my house when promised. Great business to deal with.

The customer care and experience is truly unmatched in this region. The designers technical advice and product familairity aided us in making the correct initial choices. The store provides a wide variety of high quality products not normally available in one location. I highly recommend Benson Stone.

We were very pleased with the quality of the fireplace repair that their service man (I believe his name was Keith) performed for us. I wouldn't hesitate to call Benson in the future.

We love our luxury vinyl flooring; the quality of the floor is excellent and our home has a whole new look! Dale was great to work with and our installer did a fabulous job. Thank you for providing such great local quality!

Andrea and Gordon are awesome. They even made sure we felt comfortable with our autistic son while we shopped. We walked in looking to browse and found out Granite was much cheaper than any big box store AND measured and installation included. We even added a sink cheaper than anyone else. I just recommend finalizing your design before you even walk in. Things can get confusing if you change it even before they measure. Installation team was VERY respectful and courteous. They even sweep your floors if they leave dust. Impressed by them.

Benson Stone installed a new fireplace and it is amazing. It heats our family room and even part of the upstairs. Wonderful service and professional installers. Will be back for our next project.

We had a wood floor installed in our bedroom. The installers were amazing. They ran into some problems but they took care of them. The floor looks beautiful. I give Bensons and the installers a A plus.

Terrific store and selection of anything you could possibly want for your home. Friendly and knowledgeable staff on every floor. So many beautiful items from furniture to lighting. We are considering other purchases for our new home (Countertops, mattress and window blinds). My husband wanted a grill that was the "floor model" at Benson Stone. Sales Rep was very helpful and answered all questions my husband had.

We purchased it along with many accessories for it. We received a call with delivery time of 12-2pm for the end of the week. We were basically scolded by the delivery staff when they arrived at 11am. No assembly or set up was required, just pick up and place on patio, no steps. Delivery charge was $75 to drop it off 2.9 miles from store. VERY unreasonable but we had no choice even when we provided the delivery address and I made the comment that we are so close by!

I read other review where delivery charge was waived, which only made me feel worse. My husband is happy with his grill which is most important since it was expensive without the Delivery charge.

The place is huge! They have so many selections, and a good price for the quality you are getting! Huge stone selection, which we need to complete our pond. We highly recommend the staff, as the were able to answer our questions, and gave us advice on the best way to make our waterfall. Just Wow! I struggle to find the words to adequately express my sincere gratitude for Benson Stone Company. All of the employees, from sweet Lori behind emails and calls, thoughtful Bill's time and response, to River looking into past files, to Tyler helping me schedule our floor magician, Dave. What a team of dedicated home professionals! In short, I had to have floorboards removed in random spots- I was distraught and hesitant, thinking the floors integrity would be ruined. Dave, their flooring specialist is one of the kindest, most sincere people you will ever meet.

The work he did was nothing short of perfection. He took his time, and ensured quality work. You would never tell my beautiful floors were worked on! Just flawless work. I have personally called this company for flooring, bathroom needs and questions - they go out of their way to problem solve and provide guidance! Their thoughtful response makes you feel like part of the Benson family.

Any and all future home renovations will be through Benson Stone Company. They stand behind their work and have the most accommodating, knowledgeable and kind staff! I can not recommend them enough! I am posting this glowing review on every site because I want everyone to know what a great experience we had!

We just finished upgrading the carpet in our great room and master bedroom. We purchased the flooring from Benson Stone. The experience was exceptional from picking the right materials with River Sonnet to the craftsman Chris and Mario who moved all the furniture and completed the installation. This was truly a good experience and we highly recommend them!

Had our carpet installed last Friday. Mario, Tim and I am sorry to say I did not catch the name of the other gentleman. They did a wonderful job. I would recommend Benson Stone for your flooring needs. We are very happy.

Wow! Best (and fastest) customer service ever! And I didn't even purchase anything. Guest damaged my single slab, cultured marble, bathroom countertop; likely singed it with an e-cigarette. Have been calling all over Rockford, including big box and local hardware stores. All sorts of exorbitant estimates resulted -- to replace the whole thing.

No one was interested in a possible repair. No one wanted to actually see and assess the damage. Benson Stone was eventually recommended by local hardware store. I didn't think they would want to be bothered with a job this silly. Guess again! Chris returned the call within ten minutes and offered (!) to come and check the countertop. He showed up within half an hour, explained the options and costs.

No hassle, no pressure. Nothing was purchased. Benson Stone, at this point, has had no actual business from me. But -- when I do need one -- I know where I'm going. Simply the best.

Went in to get help in remodeling our kitchen and adding hardwood floors through out our home. The floor sales man took our name and number and said he would have a designer call us to set up an appointment. Meanwhile we went to Midwest Stone Source to take a look around and the actual owner took time out of a very busy tax season to help us that day and scheduled an appointment to come see our home. Never heard back from Benson Stone and spent a lot of money at the other vendor!

We bought a 2nd home in Florida and needed to replace the tile flooring. It was a large project. Now you would think it would be easy to find a tile company to work with in Florida. We visited several flooring companies and found them to be extremely difficult to deal with. We were unable to get upfront pricing and just did not have the product that was high quality.

We went back to Illinois and started doing research there. We eventually went to Benson stone that we had used for an outdoor project. The flooring options were not only quality products but they had so many options to choose from. Benson delivered the entire job directly to our Florida home. We are so happy with the product. Every time some one walks into the house that is the first thing they mention is how beautiful the flooring is that we had installed. Tyler was our sales person and he was so professional and really cared about customer service. I would recommend Tyler and Benson stone if you are looking for flooring products. Thank you Tyler for all the time you spent on our project!

Well, I've been here several times. Although I wasn't there to purchase those days, I was there to get ideas for when my pocketbook would allow. Sorry to hear of installation woes, as well as not getting good sincere service from staff. As an older person I find that what I found to be exceptional service from people, for instance at Rockford Standard Furniture, is a service that seems to be going by the wayside in recent years.

I looked at this site tonite in hopes of seeing some nice recliners. Perhaps I should drive to that place out of 80 west of Chicago that advertises on TV. One more thing. At years end, when stores offer 70% discounts, you have to wonder what your purchase is really worth. I have a sofa 60 years old, bought at John M Smyth on Michigan Av. - great condition. 3 pc sectional and was looking for something of comparison value. in 1957 it was $1,000.00. Oh well, I'll go here and look and see paying more attention to staff this time. Too many people are hired PT

This is a of the worest companies to work with. It took them 60days to place an order, with lame excusses. 70 days later they tell us that the flooring is no longer available. We cancelled the whole order and went to Lonnies, hoe got the order in today and will be i in 14 days. Stay away from this store. BensonStone, this business gets no stars and is one of Rockford worst companies.

Great inventory for a small town like Rockford however worst customer service. Cant agree enough with the reviewer Emily below. To be very precise had an awful experience dealing with the sales people in the flooring department. Complained to the manager for the flooring department Bill and his response was that he is equally frustrated with his sales team. Made four visits to the store spent atleast three hours/visit trying to find the right tile and grout with a sales person who always looked at her watch and was always in a rush to leave.

Finally found the right material asked her to send a quote and when I went in the next day to place the order the first thing she tells me is "I am sorry I am ready to leave" this is 2.30pm in the afternoon so I politely asked her to get me in touch with whoever was available, something she should have offered herself but i had to ask. Bill the supervisor came forth but couldn't help me much because the sales person who left for the day left him with the wrong name for the products i wanted to order.

Another day was wasted. Today I walked in and met another unhappy not willing to take the order sales person. Not only she was too busy to take the order she had the worst tone ever, rolled her eyes and refused to place the order because she did not know where to pick up from where the other two had left. Mind you this woman had previously helped us pick 70./. of the products.

You don't want to spend your valuable time picking and choosing stuff for a week and in the end not finding a sales person who willingly and happily wants to take your order. To my understanding this store is doing well only because they are the only stone and tile boutique in Rockford. Wonder whats behind the bad attitude are they not getting their commision or are they under paid?.

I have never seen such carefree and rude staff under one roof. Unfortunately in the absence of good customer service great inventory is just a number. Home depot may have better customer service. Extremely rude and obnoxious sales team.

Designer Coleen Carlson was amazing to work with on my living room redo. She helped me select the perfect pieces and fabrics to work with my existing pieces and gave me wonderful suggestions for giving my room that extra "pop". Coleen kept in touch with me throughout the entire process, periodically giving me updates on the status of my order. I would not hesitate to work with her again on any future design projects. From start to finish, it was a pleasure working with her!

We bought a couch from here and the people were soo nice! Jamie boldoun helped us and she was the best at her job! We will always come here for furniture. Such a great experience!
