Champlain Stone began as a one-man quarry operation in 1982 with company president and founder Michael Morey extracting stone by hand and hauling it to the marketplace to sell. The company's growth was fueled by the quality and beauty of the stone along with the passion and determination of those who quarried it.
Available as full-bed or thin veneer in Mosaic, Roughly Square/Rectangular, Ashlar, and Ledge Stone. Each of our distinctive granites, quartzitic sandstone, and fieldstones are responsibly quarried from fully permitted properties within New York's Adirondack Park. We own the land we quarry and take great pride in both our products and our process.
To calculate the estimated number of tons of stone required for your wall stone project, measure the length, height, and depth of your planned wall in feet, rounding up to the nearest foot. Multiply these measurements together to obtain the ton of stone required, then multiply this result by.07. The resultant number is a great starting point for double face wall projects, but an estimate only. Your actual coverage will vary based upon the type of stone selected, installation style, skill level, and overall job conditions.

I purchased stone and was invoiced by the square foot yet the material fell far short of covering the stated area. The stone was cut and uniform so there was no reason. They even admitted that the stone was cut too thick. My guess is that they estimated the square footage based on the tonnage and missed due to the stone being thicker than it should have been. Even though they discounted the stone we needed, it still gouged me for another $4,500. I will never purchase from them again.
