Carl, Nicolock, was extremely rude and unprofessional. Any chance of using Nicolock for further projects, has been eliminated. Details are listed below, if you're interested. Last summer I had a 24'x 24' patio installed with a natural gas Serafina fire pit. The gas insert was controlled with a remote control. The receiver is located UNDER the insert, which means that all lava rocks must be removed when batteries need to be changed.
Whole process takes about 20 minutes. Since I was informed that the batteries will last 1-3 seasons, I accepted this inconvenience. In September 2021, about 2 months after installation, the pit was not igniting properly. Called Nicolock and my installer. A loose ground wire was discovered and was secured, which corrected the problem. At this time it was also discovered that the gas line was smaller than recommended, which caused a low flame issue.
This issue was not a concern to me as the size of the flame was sufficient. My last fire of the season was on November 7, 2021. For point reference batteries were changed on September 30, 2021. In March of 2022, I went to light the pit for the first time since 2021 and batteries were dead, so they were changed. April 4, 2022 I went to to light pit and batteries were dead.
At this point I knew there was a problem. I contacted Nicolock and I was told to change batteries again. On April 22, 2022 batteries were dead again. Contacted Nicolock and they told me they would send out a new battery box. Battery box was installed on May 12. Despite the change, problem persisted. I requested Nicolock send an expert to inspect and change out any defective parts.
I was informed that if they come out, and see an installation problem, I would be charged a minimum of $250. After video calls with manufacturer, it was determined that it was not an installation error, nor a gas flow issue and Nicolock REFUSED to come out or communicate with me. They demanded I speak only with the manufacturer. Rep from Manufacturer came out and made my Nicolock rep come as well.
When they arrived at my house, Carl (Nicolock rep) was rude and extremely unprofessional towards me. Wouldn't shake my hand, make eye contact or even acknowledge me when I greeted him. The manufacturer rep was very professional. He swapped out some electrical parts and now it is working fine.

Great experience with Nicolock. Needed replacement stones for a pool patio and had difficulty finding in local area. I emailed Nicolock and was immediately provided a response. From there, Eric contacted me and located the pavers I needed. He was responsive, detailed and made sure I was getting the right product. Less than a week later, they were delivered to my house.
The overall experience was great and they stand behind their warranty. This is an example of a company who cares about their customers and understands the importance of communication. I would buy their product again without reservations. Great company and awesome staff. Eric and the team answering emails exceeded my expectations.
