After trying to get rid of woodpeckers/northern flickers for several years by trying bird spikes, large mechanical spiders, mylar tape, cd's hanging down, an owl in a tree, giant google eyes and actually covered the entire upper part of one side of our house with a tarp. When the tarp came down we resorted to Stuc-O-Flex. The paint is expensive, roughly a $100 a gallon.
We then hired a painter to apply the paint, as it gets harder to see my husband on a ladder that far up. The paint was put on and we were hopeful. Like clock work we heard the knocking of their menacing beaks. Our fourth year in a row, a March return. I would not count on this paint taking care of the holes these menacing birds are capable of. My husband is once again climbing the ladder to repair the holes, three so far this year with stuc-o-flex on the siding. Sad in Seattle Diane P.
