Services
Longleaf Lumber is a reclaimed and antique lumber mill. We salvage woods from industrial, agricultural, and large residential buildings throughout the Eastern United States. Longleaf Lumber mills flooring, paneling, stair treads, mouldings, and other fine reclaimed wood products. We retail other green building products such as cork flooring.
Longleaf Lumber is New England's antique flooring company, milling fine hardwood and softwood 3/4 flooring from historic buildings. Our flooring ranges from clean and formal to rustic and full of character, in many species in both tongue-and-groove and straight-edge profiles. We mill all our reclaimed wood flooring in Berwick, Maine.
Heart Pine is our cornerstone product and our favorite wood to work with. Unmatched in depth of color and tone, our antique Heart Pine is available in six grades, ranging from delicate, refined lines and quartersawn elegance to the post-industrial knot and nail-hole-ridden visual landscape of our Naily Buckshot (when available) and #3 grades.
Highly sought after by discerning home and business owners alike, our reclaimed clear flatsawn Heart Pine floor is one of the most elegant and warming floors we mill. In traditional formal fashion, expect only an occasional pin knot (1/2 or smaller) and small nail holes. Checking is infrequent, and antique growth ring concentration is eight to the inch and greater.

This place is fantastic. I've had three dealings with them in the past four years. The selection is incredible, plenty of reclaimed wood or salvaged wood in different thicknesses and widths. Matthew was in the warehouse this visit and was enthusiastic and so helpful. For a fee they will deliver. Alice and Greta we're on top of all the finances and delivery times. I highly recommend a visit here. Not to mention Iggy's bakery it's just down the street.

We purchased reclaimed pine boards to use as our floors from Longleaf Lumber for two different projects. They are extremely knowledgeable about all things wood, helpful, and they provide a great product. You can definitely tell the difference between reclaimed wood and wood from a local lumber yard. Since we live in Cambridge, have very old wood floors, Longleaf is the only place where we can get materials to match.
My only recommendation is to make sure you hire an installer who knows how to work with reclaimed wood that you can trust with the quality investment you make with Longleaf. We got lucky with our first floor install, and the floors came out beautiful. Unfortunately, we hired the wrong company for our second floor install.

They are experienced and knowledgeable and more than willing to accommodate the novice purchaser with guidance and assistance. Five stars.

I recently purchased a vacation home on Orcas Island, WA and learned that the beautiful wood floors in the main areas of the house are heart pine. When we decided to install heart pine throughout the house, our installer recommended Longleaf Lumber. So, long distance (from our primary residence in Minnesota), I worked with Ian at Longleaf to decide on the appropriate grade of wood, place my order, and manage the shipment from Cambridge, MA to Orcas Island. Ian was helpful and attentive and took the time to answer all my questions.
He also provided excellent communication throughout the ordering, milling, and shipping processes. He sent photos of the wood as it was being shipped. And, when it arrived on Orcas Island, I was informed by our installer that it is the most beautiful heart pine he has seen in 20 years in the installation business. I can't wait to see it in person but I know it will be spectacular. I am so glad we decided to work with Longleaf and I can give them my highest recommendation.

If I won some kind of prize which entitled me to a giant shopping spree for any store I wanted, I would pick this place. Every time I go I find amazingly beautiful pieces of wood at great prices. They keep everything really well organized, which I can imagine must be hard to do. And the staff are so so helpful and patient. I can't believe how much time they'll spend talking to me about my dumb little projects when it's obvious I am only the type of person to spend $50 to $100 every four months or so. You should definitely come by and check them out!

I came across Longleaf when I was looking for a unique door to be used a sliding barn door in my loft. I found a door that day but it was, unfortunately, too heavy to be used in my place. They have a very large selection of salvaged doors and wood. There are so many different textures and colors to choose from and the staff is quite knowledgable and helpful.
I am currently working on a different home project and will definitely employ their expertise and products in it. I highly recommend this company. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is because the wood is a little pricey (although apparently competitive for reclaimed wood).

Bric, Ian and Joe are great! We know them by name because we drive them crazy finding the exact reclaimed barn wood we wanted for our restaurant. After having a terrible experience with a different company we were very cautious and specific but they were nothing but patient and helpful. Broc went as far as laying out every panel of wood for our 270 sq ft wall so we knew EXACTLY what we were getting. Since we live in Brooklyn, ny we couldn't go see it ourselves. We highly recommend these guys. Their prices were great and their service immaculate. Thx again guys :

When I pulled up to Longleaf lumber and saw the huge selection of unique and beautiful wood pieces beckoning me into their warehouse, I knew I'd found the place I was looking for. Upon meeting the owners, Alice and Mark, I realized they were even lovelier than their wood! The time and attention they devote to matching just the right pieces with each and every customer is rare these days.
I first went there in search of old rustic beams to make my new-build living room feel like the home I had in France. Mark advised us on exactly how to space them while Alice advised burying them for effect. Their beams absolutely make the room and are the first thing people admire when entering. While at Long leaf, I couldn't take my eyes off their gorgeous selection of reclaimed wood floors. Voila--we put old rustic, wide-plank, reclaimed pine down for the master suite instead of the new oak we'd planned on and everyone seems to use these days.
I had dreamed of wide, reclaimed wood floors, but never thought I could afford them. But Longleaf's prices were so great and I'm so glad I did it! Their beauty practically made the flooring guys weep. They said it was one of two of the prettiest floors they'd done in their careers, the other being a floor of reclaimed hickory in Jamaica Plain.
I asked and found that Longleaf also supplied the wood for that job! No surprise, after a thorough search, it's clear their quality is the best around. Alice made sure she found beautiful matching pine pieces to wrap a large ceiling beam in the bedroom and Longleaf's contribution has made the whole space spectacular. When it came time for my fireplace mantle--back I went to Longleaf. Alice and Kristen helped me search for just the right piece of old Eastern Pine that is stunning.
I will always appreciate the friendliness, time and attention everyone at Longleaf put into helping me. In addition, I will always marvel at the craftsmanship, quality of reclaimed wood and beauty they brought to my home. I strongly recommend them!
