There are a number of steps between deciding you want natural stone in your house and having the pieces installed or delivered. The next few pages serve as a guide and cover the major points to consider. They also cover general information to help you schedule and budget your project. This video covers the process from raw material to finished product.
All granite and marble countertops are made from natural stone that has been quarried from mountains all over the world. As a natural product they are prone to variations in color, pattern and density that actually adds to the beauty and charm of the material. While granite is a hard stone capable of withstanding the harshest of domestic environments, marble is softer (but can be more dense) and can function better in less used areas. Both materials can be scratched if abused and both can stain if not cleaned up immediately.

What a class act. I needed a kitchen done and after working with Joe and his team I was blown away. He is not the least expensive and if you are bargain shopping do not waste his and your time. But if you want a job done right and at a very reasonable price they will do it right. I tried to talk him into cutting a corner here and there and they showed me why they insist on doing it right and you can tell.
It was perfect. They dis the job on time and came in right on the estimate. They even cut a couple pieces of stone for accent pieces at no charge. I was impressed with the option of finishes and custom work that others said could not be done. Check them out.

We just finished having new granite installed. Everyone at Percoco Marble went out of their way to make sure we were happy with the finished product. I had checked with several discount granite places and decided to use Percoco Marble because of their professionalism and expertise. What a great surprise to find they actually beat the discount stores price. Thanks for a job well done in a timely manner

These are just my personal opinions and perceptions. I am sure others have had different experiences: (Rating A+) Planning and design: I believe Lelani is exceptional and helping customers achieve their vision. (Rating A-) The employees: Staff members are extremely knowledgeable in mu opinion and will consult and offer ideas that are welcome and helpful. Lelani is very honest and friendly she put my wife and me at ease.
She exerted a reasonable amount of pressure to commit when the design was complete to sign a contract. Percoco is not inexpensive and if the company puts in the time on the design, it would like the work which is fair. I experienced some pressure in the form of emails for very prompt payment, but that is to be expected in this economy. (Rating B) The Owner: Joe Percoco has a strong personality and will do things the way he believes to be best for his business and his customers.
He inspires his staff to loyalty and respect. We asked for a 8" shower shelf and received a 12" shower seat. I like the seat better, but was not consulted about the change. The grout spacing between the tile was to be minimal and turned out to be much larger (about 3/16") than the spacing used for the porcelain tile by the non-custom builder used in our children's bathroom when the home was completed.
There was either a lack of communication as to what 'minimal' meant for travertine tile, or a flaw in execution. A 2 ft by 6 ft slab insert was installed upside down from what was approved without communication in advance. It is absolutely correct that it looks better this way, but I believe a phone call should have been made. The wall the slab is installed in is plumb, the other two tiled walls of the shower are slightly out of plumb, but have no slab insert, though it did make the frame-less glass shower doors a bit more difficult it was not a significant hindrance.
Originally there was no back splash to the jetted tub. Once the deck was installed by Percoco it was immediately apparent that this was a design oversight, and a back splash was required. Joe absolutely agreed. He found the correct material (Percoco says from remnants from the slab we ordered but I am not so sure) and had a nice sized back splash made and installed.
We had ordered a round drain in the shower. Given the shower floor is 2"x2" tiles a square drain made a lot more sense. Joe asked me what I thought and with my approval obtained the square drain. I was a bit surprised that the different grout color for the red onyx was installed before I was it though the proposed color was discussed briefly with Joe.
It is the absolutely correct color. (Rating A) Slab Work: Texture and finish as well as installation all worth what we paid. This is what Percoco is known for and with good reason. (Rating B-) Tile work: Average quality, but note what I said above about the width of the grout lines. In many places in the shower, the grout lines do not all meet visibly evenly at tile intersections. Joe did that work.
According to Lelani, Joe has a reputation for being relatively obsessive about installation details. Joe did a great job at cutting the tiles so they fit the space well. The failure to meet visibly at tile intersections may be because of the use of natural stone tile. If that is the case, there was again a lack of communication about reasonable expectations.
The overall look is acceptable, but not exceptional in fit. (Rating C-) Timeliness and communication: There was a limited window of time in which this work was to be done. My general contractor had a pre-written calendar that was tight, but within the time frame. Percoco knew of the time limits and was not able to work within that window. I believe this was due to factors both within and not within Percoco's control.
I discovered these factors as the weeks stretched to about four weeks beyond the limited window of time. I feel that I was reduced to begging for Percoco to find a way to finish by the end of the last week it was on the job. To its credit, a way was found to finish in that fourth week. Joe and my general contractor had very different personalities and this lead to a chronic and embarrassing lack of effective communication that I could not get resolved.
For his part, I feel Joe ignored the time frame I needed because it was not convenient to his priorities and that is why this grade is so harsh. My opinion is Percoco prefers to and will work at its own speed and that a limited time frame is not this company's area of expertise. I tried everything I could think of at the time to get Percoco to meet the time requirements for this project, to little avail.
