Had a second story done in 1999. Have had no less than 5 plumbing disasters since then but I'm past my "guarantee period". In process of doing a complete remodel of it now. I can't recommend at all

Gregg and his team are the top of their industry with design build construction. Hiring a General contractor can be a daunting task, but it doesn't need to be! When you are working with a team of true professionals dedicated to their craft and passionate about the service they provide it always shows. Murray Lampert has an amazing team of true professionals and they leverage the latest technology to provide the most comprehensive design build process I have seen.

We hired them to remodel our home in 2003. We are now trying to sell our home and now finding all the mistakes that were made. They hired only the worst trades to come in and do the job. Plumbing, electrical, granite, stucco, we have 5 skylights that were only put in with 2 nails on each skylight. I can't believe they stayed up. One of their trades cut through all the cable lines and said they would repair it.

We now see it was never repaired. The outside vents were not sealed properly or painted. I don't know how they passed inspection. There are so many things that are now being brought to our attention because we hired a house inspector. If you do use this company, immediately after they are done hire yourself a home inspector to make sure they did things right.

Your probably wondering why we didn't address any of these issues before. We were both busy with a full time job that we took their word that everything was good. We did call the granite guy because the granite shifted and he blamed it on an earthquake and we now know it's because he used particleboard under the granite instead of plywood.

The particleboard swells when it gets wet. Now we have to replace the entire island. We also had the kitchen cabinet guy out because the veneer was peeling. Both trades were pissed because they had to come out. Bad company to remodel your home. Unless he is doing business differently then he did in 2003, I highly recommend you use a different company. He only used the lowest bidders for each job and you can now see that there job was less then par. Good luck with your search.

Murray Lampert just finished designing and building an ADU on my property and I could not be happier. We interviewed a few companies before selecting Murray Lampert and I know we made the right decision. Rachel Cantor came up with a wonderful design for the ADU, which also incorporated a separate laundry room that can be used by both houses. Next, we worked with Nicole Lacroix on the interior design. Nicole really listened to what we wanted and came up the perfect options.

Our construction manager was Matthew Clark and he did a great job managing each stage of the construction project and making sure the work was done right and on time. He is very hands on and stopped by daily to check on the construction crew and the progress. Overall the whole team made the process quite easy as they handled everything from the design, to obtaining the permits, to the demolition and construction, to final inspection.

I had never done a major renovation project before and was concerned as I have heard many horror stories about cost overruns and delays. However, I am happy to report that the project came in not only on budget but on time!

Our remodel was accomplished three ago and we have experienced no major problem. We have had one post remodel issue with a Pocket Door not sliding properly. The discrepancy was corrected immediately and no other problems have been encountered. Bottom Line is Murray Lampert is a #1 Design, Build and Remodel Company!

From our first discussion, the team at Murray Lampert was invested in a successful remodel for our kitchen. From Gregg, to Rachael, to the team that did the whole house measurements, everyone was friendly, punctual, efficient and focused on getting milestones met. My husband and I felt very comfortable sharing our vision and the ML team brought our design to life using advanced computer models. Rachael and Patty made sure we were happy with all the details.

We worked with Rachel Cantor and Cameron Poeschel of Murray Lampert to remodel a 1,200 square foot house built in 1942 located in Loma Portal. Both Rachel and Cameron were very knowledgeable and very professional. There were several on-site meetings to determine what would need to be accomplished in order to add a second level to the house with a deck that would provide an ocean view.

Multiple design meetings were then held in the Murray Lampert conference room where different design ideas were presented and discussed. Rachel expertly used a three-dimensional computer aided program to present the various remodel designs and was able to modify in real-time new designs based upon the discussion at hand. While all this is really neat, I felt the honest presentation of what all was involved in the proposed design was most valuable to me.

This included what the various steps were, how long the project would take, what may have to change based on the City of San Diego review of the remodel plans, what could be changed to reduce the overall expense, and what the payment schedule would be. In addition to the professionalism of Rachel and Cameron, it should be noted there was no pressure to hurry up the design process. Working with Rachel Cantor, Cameron Poeschel, and Murray Lampert was great and I would recommend them to anyone planning a remodel.

We wholeheartedly recommend Murray Lampert Design-Build-Remodel for any home remodeling needs. We bought our home 18 years ago and just made minor improvements since then, putting off til a later day all the things we wanted to do to make it more livable. Life with two active kids took over and delayed any renovation plans. The detailed information we received, the warmth we felt from the Cantor family, their commitment to our satisfaction (and budget), countless recommendations from friends, their stellar reputation in the design community, combined with the reasonable price, sold us. From the beginning, we knew we were in good hands. Gregg Cantor provided great oversight of his team, always checking in and staying on top of what was happening with our project.

The entire team took ownership of our happiness and care of our home and family. They took on managing an overwhelming process and schedule, leading us step by step and keeping us on target. Another Rachel (Bancroft) was our ML designer and she was amazing, providing terrific insight and putting up with constant questions and several changes. The 3D modeling was a fantastic tool, helping clarify the vision and projected outcome.

Budget was important to us and the ML team kept us on target, with Lisa Cantor keeping the finances straight. Daily updates on the construction from Don our project manager kept us looped into what was happening. Communication is critical to any big project, and everyone on the ML team was an expert - responding promptly to any questions and keeping us constantly informed.

Our beautiful project was finished on time and on budget. In the end, we're so incredibly happy with our remodel! We feel like we live in a brand new home.modern, bright, and completely in line with all our dreams. And we've made some great new connections with the Murray Lampert family - we know who we're calling if we start having any new ideas!

Design director Rachel Canter should not even have this job title. A total immature disaster for the company. Promises to send sketches in one week after her visit to my property. Didn't receive sketches or even a phone call. I email her 2 weeks later and she gives me a child excuse she left town but almost finished the sketches. She said she would send them over ASAP but that was a lie because I never heard back from her.

I emailed her again 3 weeks later. Now she says there must be a misunderstanding that she wasn't suppose to send me anything. She obviously doesn't take notes or type into the computer after talking to clients. She tries to get $3000 from me for drawings. I told her to read my emails to refresh her memory. She sends over some chicken scratch drawings a 3 year old could have done.

She couldn't even pull out a ruler to make a straight line. She obviously has no supervision and no one asking her any questions about possible new clients. She lost my $250,000 project for Pure Negligence and Immaturity and that goes to management as well. No one probably knows how many clients have been lost because of Rachel Canter.

I had a mixed experience with Murray Lampert, but the last contact left a sour taste in my mouth, so I'm only giving them two stars. I contacted them via their website on a Sunday morning. I was pleasantly surprised to get a reply from their "Director of Design" later that afternoon, asking if we could set up a phone meeting for the next day.

At the designated time, I was unpleasantly surprised to get an e-mail from the "Director of Design" saying they'll instead call me during a two hour window that after noon. We finally connected on the phone, and we discussed my project (totaling at least $60,000, probably closer to $90,000 IMO) and the "Director of Design" told me that they'd have to check with their Project Manager to see if they'd even come out to give me an estimate.

They tried to not be condescending during this exchange, but were only partially successful. The "Director of Design" told me that if they wouldn't give me an estimate, they'd at least refer me to some of their trade partners. An hour later, I get an e-mail with links to the BBB and mrhandyman.com. Hahaha, what a crock! At least they could have included yelp.com!

I am extremely disappointed at the lack of follow through with unfinished subcontracted work.

We were devastated to discover that our home of 30+ years had an unpermitted garage conversion with no Statute of Limitations with the County of San Diego and we wanted to remove the permitted, but structurally failing built-in patio to add a three car garage, workshop, office, swing door pantry, craft room with laundry and a patio, half under roof.

Following a search and discussion with several contractors, we decided upon Murray Lampert to address the illegal conversion, demolition and construction of our forever home. Checking references and historical work by Murray Lampert, we contacted Greg Cantor to discuss our needs. We hired one of the best design build firms dedicated to solve problems and build a quality project with minimum issues, thorough communication, flexibility to address latent conditions and changes keeping within a budget and delivering on time.

We recommend Greg and his team to give you peace of mind and deliver an incredible product! Amazing professionals looking out for your welfare, minimizing your risk and bringing home your project with little drama! We recommend Murray Lampert without reservation!

I hired Murray Lampert to do a major remodel of our home in 2008. Given our home was built in 1932, it was a very difficult and ML did a great job in rolling with the punches that the old house continually threw at them. Fast forward to today, we discovered some in-wall damage that had been caused by the way the roof was finished during the remodel.

Although the job was well out of ML's warranty period, they stepped up and split the cost of the repairs with us. If dealing with a contractor that is reputable and willing to stand by their work is important to you, then you should consider Murray Lampert.

I was very hesitant when my wife asked me about a kitchen remodel. I got referrals from friends and neighbors, then called a couple companies I saw advertising the best deals. Murray Lampert was NOT the best price, but was, by far, the best VALUE! Reputable, honest and reliable. Few businesses these days do what they say and stand by their word. Murray Lampert is a throwback company that prides itself on customer satisfaction and doing business the right way. I highly recommend them for any home improvement project!

Always a pleasure to do business with Murray Lampert. Gregg and his team are always attentive and get the job done right. We did a big remodel in 2012 with adding a new family room, relocating and expanding the kitchen, adding a dormer in the ceiling, and more. It turned out great. More recently, we were looking to expand our home further and had their team come out and start the design process.

To start the process, we paid them the full design fee of $4500. A week later, we found and bought a house and had to cancel our plans. Gregg gave us the full refund for the design fee. We really appreciate the honestly and integrity at Murray Lampert and would certainly look to them in the future for any remodeling or construction.

We remodeled our master bathroom. Murray Lampert was the successful bidder in a competition. I was very hard on them. Ben, Steve, Frank and their team executed very well and under budget. Murray Lampert did an amazing job for our family. We added a second story with two bedrooms and two baths and couldn't be happier. The job came in under budget and was completed a month early.yes that's right. UNDER BUDGET AND FINISHED EARLY! Don, our foreman, and his crew, showed up every day and worked the entire day then cleaned inside and outside, every single day! Don was full of good ideas, things we probably would have overlooked otherwise, and several of them actually saved us money.

We started our job during winter and they went out of their way to make sure our home was functional during Christmas even though the entire back of our home was wide open. The true test came when we had a series of storms while the roof and entire back wall of the house was gone. They said they couldn't guarantee a dry house but would do their best.
