Services
Pete Rose, Inc. has humble beginnings: a man selling screened topsoil from various construction sites in the Richmond & Midlothian area. He quickly developed a loyal following, and after a few years, he began selling mulch, compost, mixed soil, gravel, and river rock. Eventually, he added natural stone and concrete paver products to the growing line of landscaping materials that now covers more than five acres.
As a well known name in the Richmond area, we take pride in our customer service. It's not just the quality landscaping products that we provide that makes us a premier destination for materials. We also provide our customers with Pete Rose, Inc.'s exceptional "Hall of Fame" service. As well as providing on time delivery on all of our products.
Natural stone strikes a sublime balance between the elements and foliage, providing the grounds around it a genuine and organic feel. Pete Rose, Inc. offers a wide selection of natural stone including thin stone, wall stone, building stone, irregular flagstone, garden path stone, pattern stone, cobblestone, and boulders.
Because of this, it is typically used for application as a wall covering for both exterior and interior surfaces, fireplaces and other wall applications where weight and time for installation might be a factor. Thin veneer stone installs quickly and easily over a wide variety of substrates because of its light weight (usually less than 15 lbs per square foot) which allows for greater versatility and no need for a weight bearing foundation.

Disappointed today. I've been driving from Sandston to buy mulch, compost, rocks, topsoil and other items for the past 20 years. I bought 2 yds of mulch three weeks ago and it was no different than the last 20 years. Today I bought 2 yards and the customer service was pretty bad. After paying, I waited outside for 10 minutes and a loader was headed my way.
He stopped, turned the unit off and went in the building next to the main office building. After a couple of more minutes, I went back to the office and was asked "he hasn't come out yet?". I said no. I went back outside and one of the guys working the register came out and that is when the second loaded showed up and put mulch in my truck. He asked how much and I said two yards, After dumping mulch in my truck he left.
I expected more based on the 20 year purchase history. He never took the load receipt. See attached pictures. Is it two yards? It does not fill the truck bed. Of course it settles during the drive and maybe that is why in the past 20 years more was put in because settling is expected. Is this the result of being owned by Site One now? Lower level of service.
I know I can buy mulch closer to home and probably at a lower cost. I'm one who supports businesses that have or had a history of service and quality. I don't know. Maybe the time is over and I will find another source for landscaping products. WC Manns 20 Years-TIme For Change

I made several trips there to purchase pavers and stone for a pretty small patio project (pictured) and every time the guy at the counter, think his name was Andrew, gave me very excellent and detailed advice far beyond what I deserved. Couldn't have done it without him and glad I went there for their quality products! Also the bulk rock sales are super affordable.
