In 1915, Preston Arthur Feather began his building materials business in a construction partnership with William Wingate. Early projects of Feather & Wingate include many existing buildings in the greater Petoskey area.
We know your work day doesn't end when you leave the jobsite. Preston Feather has your back with tools to help you manage your business and customer expectations from anywhere. Some of the tools below include things like your invoice history, account applications, fillable documents, and information about our exciting Contractor Club events.
We assign a team of building materials specialists trained to help you from design and bidding through every step of the construction process. We work for you as project coordinators. We help you do it right. Preston Feather has four design showrooms with more than 75,000 square feet of space - the most in Northern Michigan.

Greatest Lumber yard ever. I have worked with them for 23 years. Their staff is top notch and they are awesome about correcting any problems. Rob Blair in Harbor Springs store and Don Smith / Petoskey store are two high quality people i have worked with. They have been with Preston Feathers for over 20 years. Highly recommend.

Great staff, great customer service and great products. If you are not sure of what you need on your next project come here. Advise is superior to that of a "big box" stores. No question asked, or restocking charge, when we returned materials(stored inside) for a project we redesigned to use less wood. I would highly recommend Preston Feather for your next project.

Marshall, from Preston Feather Building Center in Petoskey, helped us with a delivery to one of our customers. Our semi rig could not get to them with the emergency road conditions present. His exemplary service and communication helped us out of a sticky spot and we look forward to doing business with them in the future.
