Services
Pacific Topsoils, Inc. recycles all types of yard and garden waste. From trees and shrubs to dirt and rock. Even torn up sidewalk (in small chunks) can be recycled at most locations. Our recycling fees are often less than other waste options, and 100% of our materials are re-used in some way. Plant matter becomes compost, rock and concrete get crushed and re-used as gravel (ferrous materials are extracted and recycled), and tree trunks and large limbs are ground up into wood chips for various uses. Not all products are accepted at all locations.
Pacific Topsoils Blower Service, using Express Blower Trucks, will blow bark, mulch or lightweight soil mixes into beds, play areas and anywhere up to 150 feet from the truck (250 feet in special circumstances). This unique system is ideal for hard to reach areas, steep slopes, or narrow yards. Our trained and professional operators can apply material quickly and evenly, replacing dozens of workers and cutting job time while saving you as much as 20% in material costs alone. We can work year round, in any weather, because there's no damage to the terrain with blower hoses as compared to the high traffic of workers and wheelbarrows.

I bought "garden special" soil for our garden. Tons of sticks and small rocks. Really disappointed. I have to pay to get rid of some of this and sort through it all.

It's too bad this company has such crappy customer service because they are very convenient to where I live. The guy who answered the phone was rude, the person at the site was rude, but what bothered me the most was the "variable pricing". $50 per load to get rid of dirt one day, the next day with an identical load was $66, which apparently varies depending on what kind of day the woman is having. Luckily I found out that Sky Nursery takes fill dirt and only charges $15/yard and they actually have employees that seem to appreciate your business. Besides getting rid of my fill dirt I will be ordering several loads of gravel and mulch from them. A little bit further to drive for me, but totally worth it!

Cheaper than the dump for concrete and dirt, plus you can buy bulk mulch, rock and sand

I have ordered a delivery of a few yards of their garden mulch product. Unfortunately it contains lots of plastic debris, please see pictures. There are pieces of plastic bags, food packaging, neoprene gloves, with occasional nails and other stuff. Basically, shredded trash. What you see on the pictures is just some bits I have picked out while loading the wheelbarrow while spreading the mulch.

I threw away a lot more and I'm sure there's even more of it in my yard now. Also there are lots of smaller pieces that I just can't spend the time to pick out. I get it: our society produces lots of waste and Pacific Topsoil uses some of it in compost. But what I don't get is why this trash is supposed to end up in my yard for my own money when what I ordered was mulch, not trash.

I have reached out to the company about this and they said that if I bring it over to their site they will take it back. Right, how am I supposed to bring back a pile of several yards? Also, the sales rep said he needs to come over to take a look, so I gave him a few times when I can be available. But he decided to come by unannounced when I was not home, and then responded that he did not see any problems because the pile was covered under tarp which I do to protect it from the rain. Does not sound like he was really trying to see what the problem was.

So I have discarded and gave away about half of the mulch I bought because I really don't want to spread trash around my yard. But it's difficult to discard this much material especially when you're an older person and don't own a truck. So I ended up using half of the material even though I will probably be picking out the trash from it for as long as I own this property. Do not make my mistake, do not buy from this company.

I know that there are a lot of less than stellar reviews here for Pacific Topsoils, but my experience with getting 15 yards of Pacific Garden Mulch blown in was a good experience. Scheduling delivery was easy, the person who answered the phone was informed and polite. Things may have improved with the feedback? Despite having issues with their original truck breaking down, they kept me informed and when the guys were finally able to arrive, they backed their giant truck into my neighbor's steep driveway with relative ease.

They stayed late on a Friday, were courteous and very hardworking. The mulch is good quality. I really appreciated the service as my yard is so inaccessible and steep, I would not have been able to get the material where I needed it without their help.

I am not sure if this company realizes that having a rude person on the other end of the phone snapping back at customer for asking basic questions is not going to win them more business. The lady on the other end of the phone taking orders is NOT meant for this job. More than happy to pay a few extra bucks to one of their competitors just so that I don't have to deal with her one more time. Called one time trying to ask questions about mulch - without a word got directed to a voicemail. Called again the next day to ask about pricing differences between their 6-yard and 10-yards - when I referenced saying you(meaning your company) is better-off charging me the price of 10 yards for 8-yards delivered (it was a win-win for both).

In response to that I had the most bizarre response - "I don't make any money - I am paid hourly". Then I asked her about colors - what color to expect for the mulch I was ordering. To that it was flat out - "I don't give out colors". so only way for me to find out was to go to a local store - but then I can't order at the store. I still have to call the 1-800 number to place the order. Pacific Topsoils management - have you tried calling your 1-800 num, ber to place an order? Give it a try.

Great product but when you ask for 4 yards of bark u get about 3. They need a better measuring tool then a bucket. But other then getting less than what you pay for.need to just start buying bags of bark again it's way more but u get what you honesty pay for. It's not like that stuff isn't recycled products any how!

Ordered 12 yards of crushed rock. Was delivered and the driver was nice but was apparently not driving their normal truck. They went to spread the rock and it spread on thicker than they intended. They were very apologetic and I said no problem, I would just order some more so I didn't have to haul it by hand from the back of the pour to the front (over 100').

I called to order additional rock and asked if I could get the same price and the guy that answered the phone got all defensive and ended up blaming me. Not only did I not buy the additional rock, but it pissed me off enough that I am taking the time to write this review.

I have a gardening business. I stopped using their products because of the odor. Even the dark fine wood mulch. Lots of complaints and gaging, I had to go with the highest priced products, but it has paid off. The quality of soils and amendments is so important! Product that smells bad is typically processed too early. Wouldn't recommend their products. Great place to dump your debris/soil/concrete.

We had several yards of garden mix delivered to our house. The ordering and delivery was fine, it was the QUALITY of the soil that was awful. The soil appeared to be 80% sand, 15% wood chips and 5% dirt. We used the soil in our vegetable garden boxes. NOTHING grew. The "soil" was so sandy, the water just drained right through it. I have NO place on my property to move this cr@ppy soil to nor the desire to spend another several hundred dollars to get a higher quality and start again. I WILL make sure I never order soil from this company again.

This place is fantastic, super tidy. I grew uo by a place like this that was a lot bigger but they were super slow. Ive worked next to a couple places that were messy, not keeping their dirt damp and it kicking up in the wind. Its nice to see such a compact place thats so Efficient. They have a nice little store and friendly staff. Am glad I finally got over there.

I used to buy sand and gravel here, but they've changed their policies and now they won't let me load my own for "safety reasons." Their prices weren't good, but I was willing to pay a bit more for the convenience. Now that they also want to charge me loading fees to not get the load into my truck the way I want it, I'm not going back to them. I'll drive out of town to Builders Sand and Gravel and pay half the price where I can load smaller quantities myself.

I have no interest in BSG and no ax to grind with PT - I'm simply a new customer of BSGs. So many Seattle businesses price themselves out of their markets, I'm surprised that anyone shops locally any more. Or maybe this emphasis on shopping locally is why the local retailers all seem to charge double.

Huge selection of bark, rock, dirt, even boulders. Fast and easy in and out with moderate level of service. This location seems to be used mostly by commercial companies. Make sure to make a complete stop at the stop sign at the corner as you enter and exit. Resting area for local cops to do paperwork.

Be very cautious when thinking of using Pacific to dump your yard recycle as they have very predatory pricing. They purposely don't put any pricing on their website and today when I took a load into to dump, they jacked up the price 50% vs two loads yesterday. All three loads were the same size and when I asked why the 50% increase, they just said that was the price. So, be very cautious dealing with Pacific as they are quite predatory!

This company recently delivered mulch to our 4-plex on Queen Anne in Seattle. I had ordered the Pacific Garden, the darkest mulch and without any chicken manure. What they delivered was not what I had ordered. We used it as it was dumped on our property along sidewalk. But it smelled soooo badly like chicken manure that every single person walking by as well as the owners living in their condos could hardly breathe.

This was not what I had ordered. It is neither black mulch nor is it manure free. I called the company and complained. Every single person I talked with argued with me that I didn't know what I was talking about and tried to tell me compost can smell badly. BUT.the smell of chicken poop is undeniable. Neighbors confirmed the smell was definitely chicken manure. Pacific Topsoil acted like I was a stupid woman and kept telling me I was wrong.

I suggested they come out and smell themselves and got a snide chuckle but agreed to come out. Later called back and found out the representative had no intentions of coming out. During the first call, I suggested bringing a baggie of Pacific Garden to compare and was told I could come out to their lot and do a comparison. All around lousy customer service. Will not use again and have reported to the Better Business Bureau to give them an F rating. Do not use this company!

I used to do a lot of business with Pacific topsoil and I was pretty happy with their employees and service, but after they rearranged their yard layout in the wake of the negligent death of a teenage employee, the business has gone in the toilet. The employees are no longer friendly or cheerful, the yard layout is a giant waste of time. The first time I went in after this change, I was yelled at by an irate employee for getting out of my truck.

She was basically screaming at everyone. I wrote to the company to tell them that they'd better change their attitude and layout or I would take my business elsewhere. I received an inadequate response and I've been buying all my bulk material at sky nursery ever since, but I had a worksite in the neighborhood today and thought I'd give them another chance.

I wish I hadn't. They still have the same idiot lot arrangement and no longer carry products they used to carry. Also, the employee attitude hasn't improved a bit. The prices have come down at the dirt exchange and the quality of product and employee competence and attitude is head and shoulders above Pacific. I guess I'm done with them for good now. Sky nursery and dirt exchange have earned my business. Pacific has lost my trust.

I've worked with them for 15 years with countless pickups and maybe 20 dumptruck loads. I know few companies with more integrity. I'm selling my house and just placed my last load for 12-yards of mulch to pretty it up. When the driver dumped it I noticed it looked rather short but didn't say anything. The driver stopped, noticed, apologized for it, and was back in 30 min with a generous helping. They're always fun and helpful.

If they're short with you at the desk or yard it's probably because they're no-nonsense and don't cater to stupid people with dumb questions. I'm gonna miss them!

The prices seem competitive. It got quite busy at times in April and May, but most of the time I've felt the service was quick. One employee was a bit rude. The other four or five I've dealt with were very helpful--making sure I didn't overload my trailer and putting up with my inability to back it up with any accuracy.

These guys are super helpful and knowledgeable. I have not been the easiest customer to deal with. The first truckload of dirt couldn't fit through the alley into our property so they had to take it back. I took some photos and drew a site plan of our front yard condition and discussed it with Victoria at Pacific top soils. Victoria was super helpful in figuring out how to get the soil delivered.

We ended up getting it delivered on a bigger truck with a conveyor belt system that shot the dirt over the fence into the yard. Scott, who drove the load over on the conveyor belt truck was awesome! He even came 20 minutes early of his arrival time. Which for us was so nice instead of being late. Another thing I checked around for is contaminant testing. Pacific Topsoils dirt is tested more regularly for contaminants than other places like Cedar Grove - other dirt companies only test their compost but Pacific Topsoils actually tests their three-way topsoil as well, about every 3 months I believe. This was also a great plus for us. And finally but not least they were cheaper than most of their competitors.

I've worked with Pacific Topsoil for probably 10+ years. I've only gotten gravel and mulch from there and have always picked it up myself using a Handy Andy dump truck located across Aurora from them. At worst, the service desk people were to the point, but never rude. Usually though I've enjoyed my interaction with them and chatted with them. I've never used their topsoil or delivery service but my experience has always been positive!

The lady working the counter didn't know anything! I asked if she had a price sheet and she said they were all out. Than I asked if she could look up the pricing on-line and she said no. I asked about minimums that needed to be purchased and she wasn't sure! I don't plan on going back unless I have the answers ahead of going there. Oh dud u mention she was blonde!

Their "special garden blend" is a joke. 90% mulch. Nothing developed roots in the stuff and I got tiny splinters every time I worked in the 'dirt'. Feel like I wasted a lot of money and time.

If you want bark delivered, no problem. But if you want soil, be carful. I tore out my old lawn, added 2 of the soil that Pacific Topsoil recommended. After I spread it out and watered it, the surface was full of small rocks. I ended up racking two full wheel barrows of small rocks off the soil surface ( just 600 sf) I called and PT said small rocks are expected.

So then after I watered the soil for a few weeks to settle it, a whole bunch of weeds sprouted so now I have to keep going out and weeding. My new lawn sprouted fine, but the weeds are terrible. watch out.

I was calling them for an estimate for topsoil for my seeding for grass project. A lady I was speaking to shout at me for my name after I had already given it to her over the phone. Super Rude CUSTOMER SERVICE!

I needed ceder chips. I needed to acquire ceder chips as close to my house as possible since I had rented a pick up truck that charged by the mile. Pacific Topsoils met both requirements and from what I could tell their prices were competitive. There was only one person working handling both payment and loading so I could see that being an issue if it had been busier. But it wasn't a factor in my case. The employee got me squared away quickly and I was off. no complaints.

I agree with previous review. top soild quality is very low. In the long run, it's better to go to a place outside of Seattle. A friend of mine recommended Avondale top soild, but I do not know them, nor have I used them.
