In the early 1930's, Charlton C. Howard established Howard Lumber Company on Sunset Boulevard in Augusta, Georgia. After some years, the firm moved to its former location at 1900 Milledgeville Road. This property was originally the site of Georgia Hardwood Lumber Company, and was operated by Owen Cheatham and Eugene Howard.

I own a local business and have tried to order material from here as it is close to one of our locations. The customer service I received was terrible. My salesman Kurt told me he would have materials dropped on a certain date and when the driver showed up, much of the wood was in unacceptable condition. I spoke with the driver and he called the salesman and told me that they could have it out the very next day at 8am.
I asked him if he was sure as the materials would be needed for construction the next day, he said it would not be a problem. The next day at 2pm I called because I hadn't received materials or any phone call, and was told "sorry we forgot." I told them that was not acceptable business practice and they assured me materials would be there the Next day at 8am again.
Even claimed they would send it out on their "express truck." At 9am I called and Kurt said "I thought you cancelled." And to top it off, they are trying to charge me $45 for materials never received - Our office called several times yesterday to discuss our dispute regarding the invoice and was sent to the manager (Michael's) voicemail. We received a call back the following day.
The manager was unprofessional in his communication to me (ie: asking me a question and then interrupting me while I was answering his question, in an attempt to ask me another question. with a "whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa") I do also appreciate their willingness to remove the delivery fee for the product that we never received and I also truly appreciate the call from Kurt, who apologized for the way everything was handled. While I do appreciate their willingness to make it right, we will stick to using Manor as their customer service, pricing and business ethics seem to be far superior.

Mcginnis should be trained or fired. I got a quote for lumber from him on friday morning. I went back later to get the wood. It was $2 and change cheaper from another worker also he said they were 10 ft sections and they were only 8.5. I went again to get the rest of the wood I needed on the next monday and Mcginnis was there so I got what I needed.
When I got home and noticed the price difference I called and he answered saying there was a price increase on there end. I told him the scenario and he said I could return it and shop elsewhere. No refund for the difference or ownership of his mistake.

We ordered 90 surfaced cedar boards and had to return 7 due to defects and added an additional 2. No big deal but it took a month and a half to FINALLY get the replacement boards but only after having to call at least twice a week to get a status on them. Once they finally got the replacements we informed them we would like to cancel the additional boards because they had not arrived yet.
We were asked wait till Monday and if we didn't need them they would refund our money. Called to get the refund and they said the boards we're waiting for us to pick up. They wouldn't refund because it was a special order. I hope I never have to use this company again!
