I was hesitant to give my business to this company due to the mixed reviews. But after visiting 3 other showrooms, I decided to go with Shamsi because of him price matching quotes with each competitor. The granite itself was elegant and the workmanship of his staff was direct and consistent. I am ecstatic about my new kitchen counter tops and can't wait to show it off!

Me & my friends has been using Marble & Granite City for almost eight years, I have been to his all three locations, in my case jobs has been done always way less than with any other company, with quality and professional manner. They have done my two houses, my parent's house, my employer's house, and my neighbor's houses as well with no complains.
In my opinion there are certain people they just want free stuff, if you are willing to pay you will get the services. it is simple as that. If there is not enough material don't expect a granite company to buy a full slab and do free backsplashes, and for plumbing issues. I remember telling me straight forward, peter you have to force me to do plumbing, because I don't have license plumber in my payroll but if you cant find anyone I can help you with no warranty!
Even after hours he is the only guy who will respond to your inquiries and he will coordinate things according to our schedule. I had tagged my slabs on Sunday, when every granite company was closed. Problem comes its all about how they address it. This is my honest opinion that We like Marble & Granite City & personally Shamsi and his expertise in the stone industry, and I am all set to deal with him again, I have already tagged 2 more dellacatus slabs at their ware house, and hoping to be installed as soon as my cabinets are done.
I have read all these review and still believe that he is my best guy. I also had a discussion with him about all bad reviews and he is not a guy requesting each of customers to go and comment but I have decided to do it for him and I have seen all documents and text messages between him and some of you folks. @Karen I had to say that you are liar your contract doesn't show that they suppose to do your back splashes.
You himself has apologies for being lying didn't you? You have decide to paid fully but for incomplete work, how is that possible. @Mr khan I have seen your text message as well by saying that your job has been done right, accept seem book matching issue, if you would had bought extra slab and paid for it, you wouldn't be all upset. You still own them plenty of money, and you have put these comments because of their legal notification, you wont be able to get away from this, they have all right to get paid for the services they have rendered to you. I will must put another review once my kitchen is installed.

You get what you pay for. while his quote was competitive, by the end, I would have happily payed double to triple to deal with a competent a reputable granite fabricator. Missed deadlines which were blamed on us (thank goodness for saved text messages from him), bait and switch regarding what is included in quote (promised free edge, but decline after getting a deposit), poorly cut vanity tops (had to buy a new faucet to cover his mis-cut drill holes), razor blades left all over my house after install for my dogs and child to find, cutting on site due to poor measuring (produces TONS of dust).these were just a few of the reasons this guy sucks! One star is one star too many! Stay away!

One star doesn't quite summarize the experience. My in-laws bought from Marble & Granite City and they had a rough experience with a fair warning - there will be delays. The zinger line is "you're getting a Rolls Royce for the price of a Camry". Shamsi (the owner) will sell you stories of all the wonderful places he's installed granite & marble. It'll seem exotic but try to shake it off and wonder why is he trying so hard to blow wind up your skirt.
I'll admit the quote from Shamsi was below his competitors in the area. However I wasn't prepared to wait an unlimited amount of time for the work to be completed. I cut my losses and after having paid a considerable amount up front I ask him to leave his job as it was already 2 weeks behind what he had promised. There will be calls or text messages late at night to fix problems caused by his people.
A good example of this: My plumbing in the kitchen sink was damaged by his guys and they took a couple of days to come around and fix it. What really dropped the ball was a text from Shamsi after 10pm at night saying he would come at midnight to fix the problem. For me this was a sign of things to come. He ruined our the long weekend by promising to deliver yet he didn't then eventually 2 weeks after he said he would complete.
I ended up calling him ( he didn't bother to reach out. no surprise right) I asked whats going on and just be honest. His excuse was the piece he was cutting had broken and he was away on an emergency. Right no need to tell your customer. That was it for me I turned him away from any future work and I have advised people, close friends and family where I would have made a recommendation, not any more.
Pay the higher price get a good job done and close to on time. It's worth the investment to go with reliable, committed and decent businesses. You'll save your self time, stress and no value should be put on that. This is a place that will leave you disappointed in what should be a pleasant experience and a happy one. Rather I feel lied to and cheated. I agree with Todd and Kristen and probably should have read reviews before hand.

Terrible business. Do not use this company for anything. Did not complete our job. Full of promises that are never seen through. We are now left with two bathroom sinks that were poorly installed and non operational. Shamsi also promised to attach our dishwasher and never did. Our seem in our kitchen granite is green and that has not been fixes. Going on over a month since the original job was done and we are still not able to use our bathroom sinks.
We have made repeated attempts to contact Shamsi with either no response or being told they will have someone look at it without any follow through, He will tell you what you want to hear until he gets the money in his hand and then disappears. Completely untrustworthy.

Shamsi left our job in July 2015 unfinished. We have attempted many times to get him to correct/finish the job but he has not responded. Shamsi is the absolute worse contractor we have ever dealt with.not sure how he can still be in business! Shamsi installed the wrong size kitchen sink (after I confirmed the correct size twice) and has yet to replace it.
The sink was installed crooked and the sink opening in the granite was not cut proportionately.just plain unacceptable workmanship! Shamsi said he would mount the dishwasher with special clamps as to not effect the granite. This never happened! I would highly recommend NOT using Marble & Granite City.
