Not sure who the driver is but as a fellow truck driver he's definitely not a professional. As he's a accident waiting to happen he continually tailgated me on 81 south at times so close I could tell the color shirt he had on. I will definitely save the video just for future reference as if anything comes of this like a accident I will submit to the local news and the state's attorney to prove how wreckless your drivers are also the date of this post is the actual date of the incident. Fyi if he would have hit me I definitely would have the proper pictures and recording to back my legal case.

We bought a house in June and upon inspection, there are 5 windows needing replacement. They are under warranty. The windows were ordered. They finally came in, in August. My first date given for installation was a month out for September 16! Then it got canceled with no reason and pushed to September 22. Then that got canceled because their one and only technician who serves NC (unbelievable!) got hurt.
No call back for a week and a half. They then tell me November 10. Every time I have told them if this was a job where they were making money, they'd have been installed now, but they don't care and keep pushing us out since it's covered under warranty. They had the audacity to say they'd ship to a dealer so we can have them installed ourselves. No.
Just no. These are your faulty windows. On my last conversation I said I'm sorry that I gave the number to my husband and now they can deal with him; I'm nicer. I can't keep going in circles and going nowhere. I was told they weren't going to listen to my "threats" and was hung up on. Worst customer service. Worst experience ever. Worst windows. I've included just one pic of the 5. I pray none of the others do this so I never have to deal with these rude, incompetent people again. America. Where no one wants to help and everyone is offended.

Bought a Distinct 2-panel Patio Door with Mechanical Frame from Lowes. Display door was impressive and all assembled so we bought the unassembled kit because it will be installed on our house that is located in an area that requires a boat to get too. I and my helper have installed several patio doors by various manufactures in the past and this Distinct door was our first.
The instruction manual for assembly is piss poor at best. The only parts labeled in the frame box are the fasteners. The rest of the parts for the frame are not. The written instructions seem to have been written by someone with limited mechanical experience. Some of the wording requires amplification to even read it correctly. Fortunately we had an intermittent internet signal strong enough for a lap top. Using that we were able to follow a web site that helped a great deal.
My suggestion for assembly, if the assembly manual does not get improved, is to plan on taking twice as long to install this door. Have a magnifying glass handy to read the very small print. Definitely have a strong internet signal and computer to assist in explaining which part is which and lay out all parts to insure proper orientation before assembly in the RO.
This door seems to be of good quality and once installed looks and operates well. Hopefully in the dead of winter it will preform as advertised. My 3 star rating is generous for the problems we encountered that could be rectified with a manual written by someone that has worked the trades.

I purchased the United 6068 Distinct series door at Lowe's. After shopping for a couple of months at every place and price point, my gut told me, without spending 4K this was the best quality door out there. I have basic carpentry skills and can figure my way though most projects, but never having installed a sliding door and only replacing 1 window in my lifetime, I was nervous to tackle the project.
I was replacing a French door that was rotting due to the poor installation of prior homeowners, and I didn't want to screw this up. Spoke to an installer who told me the most important aspect of this working well (or not) was to make sure I took my time on the prep work of the opening, making sure everything was correct. His words exactly were, "don't rush to get the new door in.
Take your time, make sure the opening is square and plumb, and the project will be successful." After removing the French door, I discovered that sides and top were perfect, but I had about a two inch drop left to right atcthe sill. Also concrete under the sill was cracked badly and nothing prior had been done to correct. The previous shimming was inadequate, and weatherproofing improper.
This is what caused the French door to fail. Spent about 3 hours correcting, patching and allowing dry time, and making sure everything was as close to perfect level wise, and water sealed properly. Glad I did. The frame assembly was easy (could be easier if they labeled frame pieces). Took my time following the book instructions (sometimes confusing) and had a video on my phone showing/verifying process.
I had figured on a 6+ hour project that took about 9 with me verifying step by step to make sure all was good. I'm confident that I could do this again (minus concrete work)?in a couple hours, but with it being the first go round with this type project, it took longer. The results are outstanding. The door looks great! The door is solid! The door is level and air tight. My father in law showed up as project was ending. He swears that my door is better than his Pella 250 series ( go price that!).

If you want to order a window, and have 3 months to wait, then this is the company for you. I ordered a window from this company through Lowes store. I was very disappointed, and I believe its only a matter of time before they lose their contract with Lowes Store. I was left with an old window in my home in the middle of winter, which was leaking cold air, because they kept taking orders when they knowingly could not fill the orders.
I also had an increase in my heat bill. They would give me inconsistent conflicting answers with regards to delivery of their products, and will blame everything on the current pandemic crisis. In my opinion, this company lacks oversight, leadership, and supervision. To boot, Lowes informed me this company refused to discount the window for making me, the customer, wait so long and many trips back and forth to Lowes for the updated status of my purchase. Bottom line, stop taking orders if you cant deliver on your promises.

Have dealt with United for over 20 years as a distributor and now a contractor, and have found both inside and outside sales to be top notch. They are local and service has always taken care of any issues we may have had quickly. Not many companies has a full in house service department. Unfortunately COVID has made supply an issue across the industry.

If you're ever in the market for windows and doors and someone suggests United, run. I've never encountered such an incompetent and unempathetic company in my entire life. I ordered 4 sliding doors and 5 windows in July 2020. My order arrived in October, except it was wrong. One window was completely the wrong size, and 3 of the windows were scratched up, 1 window sash was cracked, my sliding door screens were white (were ordered brown), and all my window screens had holes in them.
I received a call in November that getting my new windows would probably not be possible as they are having issues with supplies and they asked if I wanted to downgrade my windows so they could get those in faster. I was told there would be a price difference. Wanting to get this over with I committed to it. Their representative Mike (who's Dad owns the company) compared their 8000 windows (the ones I originally ordered) as their top of the line model and the model I was going to get the 7400 (?) was a mid-line model.
The way he spoke about this I was concerned in the change in quality. Fast forward to January 2020, the mid-line windows arrive and I was advised the price difference between their HIGH END model and their MID LINE model was only $20 a window, well actually it was $2 a window, the company I ordered through got them to give at least $20 a window. I was meant to believe that their top of the line "Ferrari" windows are only $2 more than their mid-line model?
In January 2021, I finally had my windows finished, granted they're still not finished one of the windows arrived with a cracked lock. Overall, it took me months to get my windows installed, one of the worst experiences dealing with a company, the entire time Mike from United couldn't have been more unempathetic and smug, he's all about the profits honestly doesn't care about people, but I guess that's what happens when your Daddy owns the company.
You can treat people how ever you want and you're going to be OK. Mike tried to make things better by offering me a $100 gift card and when I told him "I spent $18K on windows, that were wrong and messed up at every turn of the order, and I had to wait months for it to be fixed, what is a gift card doing for me?" his response was "Well, I really don't even have to give you anything" United Windows produces low quality and sloppy product, their quality control must be non-existent, their customer service skills are embarrassingly low. Stay as far away from them as possible.

I ordered a sliding door on 4/24/2020 it took then 6 weeks to deliver. No big deal except it didn't have locking hardware the screen door wasn't the correct size and I would find out after I installed it, the sliding door was bent! I went to Lowes and they ordered the missing parts and explained the problem with the screen door. Their CS rep was disrespectful to the Lowes employee and said I didn't know what I was talking about.
After a week they conceded to send a rep out. Their own rep said its a " NO BRAINER" that the whole package was bad from the start and should be replaced. "Even the slider was bent". -long wait time -missing parts -damaged parts -incorrect sizes -mix matched paint This was their TOP OF THE LINE patio door. My initial customer service rep George Acted like I was making this up & I was going to take money out of his pocket.
All I ever wanted was the door in NEW condition not this shabby thing. Never buy this brand. Unless you want the same problems. I won't have what they call complete doors until the end of July. And the story continues.

A-1 in my book. I had United windows installed in my residence way back in 2004 and have had issues with a couple of the sashes over the years. They stand behind everything they make and install and have the greatest customer service. Just called them with a seal break in a bedroom window and still under warranty so the parts are free with a small labor charge. They will have it fixed within 10 days These windows are of equal quality and longevity to the big name replacement windows but much more economical.
