I purchased 15 cubic yards of top soil in early May 2022. Soil looked fairly good. However, when it dries it gets hard and crusty. I purchased the top soil to grow grass in various locations around my yard and to fill in two area that had a valley. Although I used starter fertilizer and 3 types of good quality and watered, the grass was VERY sparse. In some areas non existent.

Oak Shade did a phenomenal job on our leaves this season. Living in Medford, we have dozens of trees and the leaves cover the lawn like a blanket. It would have taken me days to get rid of them this year. Oak Shade had a large crew that did it in less than 2 hours. They were also very careful around all of our shrubs and plants. The property looks great. Thank you.

I have never had a worse experience with a business in my life. We paid over $2000 to have a bed put in with plantings that deer would not eat. We were very clear about the amount of deer in our area and that we were not home for long stretches so deer spray was not a solution to the deer problem. Larry chose all the plantings and promised to replace any that were eaten.
One month later and many of them were eaten to the nub. Larry said that he would replace them in the fall (better time to plant). Larry is now refusing to replace. He's been rude via text and refuses to talk to us on the phone. We are at a loss of what to do but at least we hope no one else will end up in the same predicament. Larry talked a great game before he had our money and now he won't honor the promise he made. Do not give him your business!

I had pavers installed by Oak Shade Nursery almost one year ago. The pavers are beautiful and I was pleased initially. I was told that when the pavers settled just to call and they would be filled in. I have called numerous times and texted without results. I have weeds growing in my pavers. I also have one stone that is discolored. The pavers were beautiful in the beginning but now I'm very unhappy with them. I called for the last time yesterday and the person who answered the phone was rude. I was told that they are busy. I would never use Oak Shade again.

We have done business with Oaskhade Nursery for many years. Landscaping is pricey, no matter who does it. SOD, hardscaping, lighting - all cost money. We wanted our outdoor living space to be enjoyable and add value to our home. We appreciate Mr. Zimmer's creativity and approach to helping us achieve our goals. All home improvements - interior and exterior - come with frustrations. We have used large commercial companies to provide lawn services, and we did not find their service to be any better.

If I could put lower than a one star review, I would. Just recently had them do my landscaping and it was awful. I was completely dissatisfied with the results since they were not what we discussed. So many things were done poorly -too many to even list. The owner, Larry, knew that I was dissatisfied but would not do anything to rectify it. He has no customer service and didn't care what I thought. I would never use them again or recommend them to anyone because of the shoddy work that was done and the absence of any customer service. Stay away.

The owners of this establishment are incredibly rude and are completely unwilling to bend to the needs of their clients. I've heard story after story of them treating the customers with nothing but disdain. Could really use a lesson on customer service. It's a shock your business has lasted as long as it has. I bought a home that had a sprinkler system and resumed maintenance with Oakshade for my yearly blow outs. It was not until I actually needed service that I have been left with a very sour taste for this company. Last fall I needed maintenance and they installed different sprinkler heads than the ones I had which are not watering the lawn properly and upon fixing the heads they did not ground them properly into the ground so when I went to turn on the system this week most of them are leaning and the drip lines they supposedly fixed (and charged me for )are pouring water out of them after I paid this company $750.00.
I even called back and asked to have the sprinkler service person back out and he did come back out but was rude and arrogant to me and did not fix the problems then charged me MORE money. Don't use this company. I am finding someone else to service my sprinklers. This is a family owned company and I guess you cannot fire family but this person needs to be fired. The customer service here is terrible for the lawn irrigation portion anyway. I am out $750 and my system is worse than before I had it fixed.

I received a quote for foundation plantings and lawn maintenance within a week. The owner reviewed in detail all work that would be done and set a date for completion. Work was completed on time and exceeded my expectations. I would highly recommend this company for landscape design and lawn care. Thank you Qakshade!

We were looking for a quote to have a significant sized project in our backyard done. The owner, Steve, was very nice and knowledgeable. However, the reason I give a 1 star is because I never received the quote. I received a call from them 3 weeks from when we met and again 6 weeks from when we met asking "are you still interested in the quote?". My response is, why wouldn't I be if I asked?
It sounded as if they didn't want to give a quote if they knew we were also getting quotes from other companies because it was a "waste of their time". Due to this, I think that this company does not deserve anything more than 1 star. It is unprofessional to keep calling to ask "hey are you still looking for a quote? We don't want to do the quote if you are also getting it from elsewhere." Quite honestly, they were in our top running due to the initial meeting.
They just lost business of a $50k project and I would not waste MY time again meeting with them to tell them the details of what I need a quote for. They come off "too busy" for large projects and doesn't seem as if they can handle it since they don't even have time to send a quote. Very disappointing.

My husband and I wanted to support local business so we went with Oakshade when we needed mulch and then topsoil. We got our load of mulch with no problem, but the topsoil was a whole other story. A few weeks later we ordered topsoil and we were told they would come between 12pm and 1pm and they would knock on the door to have us show them where we wanted it.
They ended up coming at 11am and dumped the topsoil in a flower bed in front of our house that had new flowers bushes in it and new mulch. The top soil was dumped extremely far away from where we needed and it also ruined our flower bed and mulch. We were told that as a courtesy they would give us a free load of topsoil where we actually needed it.
The free load never came and when we tried contacting them about it they kept taking down our Number and said they would call back. We never heard from them. We will never give them our business again and we will be sure to tell everyone we know about how poorly they treated us.

Very poor customer service. After ordering 5 tons of driveway stone, I asked the driver (owners son) to spread it out as much as possible. The response I got back was "it comes out of the truck the way it comes out". He dropped two tons in a pile before he ever started moving and the rest was poorly distributed. The amount of extra work he created, because he didn't take his time, was enormous.
In previous years, deliveries were very evenly distributed and you can tell the driver had the experience to do it right. I'm now on my 30th wheel barrel still trying to get it evened out.

I don't have the slightest bit of know how when it comes to landscaping nor do I have the time or ambition to learn. I contacted at least 4 companies to come out and bring my property back to life. One gentleman came to the house and said he'd take an extra week to get me an estimate. We never heard from him again. Another company never responded, a third gentleman never kept the appointment or called that he wasn't coming.
I called OakShade Nursery and relayed all my experiences with Larry Zimmer at OakShade. Larry is a real professional and knows how to take care of a customer. He came to the house on time, measured and took pictures, and had an estimate the following week as well as suggestions on what should be planted on my property. I felt so comfortable dealing with this man, I didn't want to shop his pricing and went with him immediately.
There were no delays in my project and everything looks beautiful! Larry's crew did great work and quickly. We have new plantings, retaining walls to solve the erosion issues and I'm pleased to look at my home again. I will not hesitate to recommend OakShade Nursery to my friends and family.

I had used Oak Shades many times and had good experiences. However, once you have a problem, and need any sort of help with a garden issue, you are out of luck with customer service. When I needed new gardens installed, they were here right away. However, when a tree they installed died, they did not replace for 6 months, and only after repeated requests.
When that tree also dies immediately after planting, they just chose to not return my calls. So, if you want a new garden, they are good. Just don't expect any help if you have issues after you've paid them. Big disappointment after the money and references I had given in the past.
