In 1976, Lewis Judy and Toni Gilbert began a woodworking and stained glass studio in Oregon's Willamette Valley. Toni designed the furniture and built stained glass for the early projects while Lewis did the woodworking. Lewis and Toni had been in business for 15 years when they added three employees, three buildings, a wood drying kiln and eventually a gallery.
One of those employees was Hector Santana, who brought woodworking and finishing expertise to the furniture making. In the early 90's they closed the gallery and renamed the business Northwest Timber.

Great price and good quality fence pannels. The guy on the phone was very nice and helpful and delivery was very quick on the short notice the only negative thing was the gravel boards are not the best because the crack very easy so you need to be very careful lifting them around. I will recommend and order from you again. Thanks

I visited the showroom and met Lewis Judy, the owner. He permitted me to tour the inventory of wood and the machine room, part of the time by myself. The condition of the stock is absolutely first-rate---kiln-dried, S4S, selected for color and figure. Mr. Judy does not make furniture any more. This is strictly a lumberyard dealing in local hardwoods and selected black cherry from Pennsylvania. The firm ships worldwide. Two shop cats, the grey one, Samantha, a love machine.

I had been looking at several websites for a nice piece of Claro Walnut for a cutting board project. Northwest Timber had hundreds and hundreds of various sizes to select from and I found the perfect piece. After placing the order, I was expecting it to be a few days before it was shipped and another couple days before it being delivered. But. they sent a tracking number within 10 minutes of my order, and it was delivered the very next afternoon - about 24 hours after I placed the order! You guys rock!

NW Timber stocks a super well photographed selection of figured hardwoods. Even though I have my own supply built up from many years in the furniture making business, sometimes I'll turn to NWT for just the right wood that I need for that special job. The website is very well designed in a way that makes it very easy to browse for the right length, color and figured wood.
