Called to get work done on my deck. Operator: - "Have we worked on your deck before?" Me: - "No" Operator: - "What city do you live in?" Me: - Ypsilanti Operator: - "Sorry if we haven't worked on your deck before we are not servicing your area!" OK? Then why ask what city I'm in, If i were to say West Bloomfield, you would take my request then? I didn't like then answer i was giving seems like they only want to service the richer cities and towns.

Richard Pauley and his crew did an outstanding job replacing our wooden deck with a Trex deck. Now, there were a couple of issues with the local inspector and a hidden part of the old deck that created the need for a couple of change orders, but even the change order requests were reasonably priced. I've been a contractor for fifty years, so I know how changes are often priced.
The only other problem was that the project was supposed to be done during the early summer of 2021 and Covid created a shortage of workers, so the deck was not completed until late fall. Not what we wanted, but at least the delay was understandable.

Had my pavers power washed and re-sealed. Initially I had requested a water based sealer because I am sensitive to the oppressive odors oil based products possess. After the work was completed I noticed everything was washed out and cloudy. My best guess is this was because my well water has a lot of lime and calcium in it although I am not sure. Nevertheless, Richard came back and tried a different product and while I had to settle for an oil-based sealer, everything looks great. He was very responsive and empathetic throughout the whole ordeal. A lesser company would have been much more of a headache to deal with.

Restore A Deck maintained the deck at my previous home. They cleaned, stained, rebuilt stairs and replaced boards. I was completely satisfied with every aspect of their work. I called them to clean and do repairs to the deck of my new home which had not been maintained in quite a while. They also repositioned, sanded and resealed some brick pavers.
Once again, the finished project was exactly as I had come to expect from Restore A Deck. I have to commend the various crews that performed the work. They were always pleasant, professional and hard working. It's not surprising that they have been in business since 1987.

As always they have left me feeling great with their work. The owner has come over to explain or if he feels that its necessary he himself comes out to do what may be necessary.to make the job right. I have no problem recommending Restore-A-Deck to anyone. Feel confident that he will do better than good work.

I am very satisfied (make that "happy") with my newly washed and stain deck. Restore A Deck came out promptly for an estimate, which was reasonable, and held to the timing for the work. I did not contact them until late June, I will hire them again but next time I will call earlier in the season. The work crew was professional, very kind to my flowers near the deck, and as a "bonus", helped me with deck furniture. Joan even went so far as to stop over and re-attach my backyard hose to faucet (arthritic hands would not let me do this simple task). That's what I call Customer Service! I recommend highly.

I am beyond satisfied with Richard and his team. I wish I could have given them more stars. From start to finish, they were extremely professional. Having been burned before by a company that did not know how to use a power washer, we were extremely nervous about the process of applying a stripping agent and having the deck power washed again. The first company said creating dents all across the deck boards was normal. DON'T believe that!
If someone says that, don't hire them! It's not normal, and professionals who know what they're doing won't damage your deck. Restore a Deck didn't cause any damage and cedar is a pretty soft wood. The sealant was applied evenly and the team was committed to making sure my husband and I were satisfied. Some of the areas of the pergola were extremely hard to reach, yet they were flexible in finding whatever way possible to satisfy this OCD client, and apply the sealant in those areas, lol.
If your deck is in need of restoration, I highly recommend Restore a Deck. It can be scary hiring contractors, but this is one of the best experiences I've had. We will be reoccurring clients from this point on. Oh, if you feel the color of the desk is too amber, go with a honey tone. I'll probably do that next time. Lastly, the best part of our experience was the overall customer service. Just hire them, you'll see for yourself.

Restore-A-Deck had always done a great job cleaning and restaining our old cedar deck through the years and had always been excellent to work with. That, combined with a very positive recommendation from one of our neighbors that had Restore-A-Deck replace their old deck with a new Trex deck last year, made us feel good about contracting with Restore-A-Deck to replace our old cedar deck this year with a new Trex Deck. Richard Pauley did a great job designing a deck that looks great and totally met our needs. He, his wife Joan, and the carpenters who completed the project were all great to work with.
They were always polite and very responsive to our questions and concerns. The carpenters were highly skilled and well experienced in deck building, and they made every effort to assure that our new deck was well constructed. They also thoroughly cleaned up the construction site every evening and upon completion of the job. Deck construction contractors vary greatly in responsiveness and quality. While bids also vary, Restore-A-Deck was competitive, and we are very pleased with the entire experience and would highly recommend them!

Used Restore A Deck for the first time this year. I am 100% satisfied. They power washed my deck, then came out a couple of weeks later to stain it. The guys were professional and cleaned up after themselves. We have a part Trex, part Cedar deck that takes some extra TLC in preparing it for staining plus the clean up can take some extra time also.
They did miss some spots (with Trex/Cedar deck this can happen) but they came out to "touch up" the spots they missed. He spent a long time here and I felt that he treated my deck like he was his. I highly recommend Restore A Deck for ANYONE out there. A+++++ in every area from to Richard to Joan to the guys who stained and power washed my deck. There should be more businesses like this one!
