HC Wood Inc. was founded in 1855 by Aaron Wood, great-great-grandfather of the present owner, Harvard C. Wood IV. For over 160 years, the Wood family has been designing and building memorials for the families whose loved ones are resting in hallowed grounds. In 1855, the Civil War was still in the future, and my great-great-grandfather began carving memorials for the Philadelphia area cemeteries and churchyards.
I have taken way too long to tell you that I am very happy with the stone that you made for my parents, Jane & Andy Ebelhare. It is so much more their style than the other three. Thank you for working with us on the design. It's quite pretty. Sorry for the delay in writing this. I visited my parents' grave last Saturday Feb.

HC Wood was terrible to deal with. Although they manufactured my family's headstones for generations, their quality has dramatically declined and they did a terrible job of my mother's headstone this year. When I took pictures to show them and then reached out, the brushed me off with a short email. When I called again they were flippant, rude and did not offer to do anything to fix the stone claiming there was 'nothing they could do' even though when we went to visit in December (the stone being less than 6 months old) you couldn't even read the lettering despite the stone being made to perfectly mirror the stones they have done for us in the past. It feels awful to have been treated so thoughtlessly when death is at hand. Do not give them your business- they do not deserve it.

Choosing a proper memorial headstone for the Queen Mother was one of the hardest processes for us. It's what history sees of her. In doing this, we wanted to show beauty, compassion, love and sorrow. First, we did our homework, walking through cemeteries to see what others had chosen. We made more of what we liked & disliked. Then FDC went and spoke with many memorial companies, looking at sample work, etc. we learned that while a cemetery may have specific requirements for headstones, it is not required to buy from them, and this research, while difficult, is so important.
In the end we chose Wood Memorials, a four generation family owned business. Harvard Wood worked patiently and tirelessly with us to choose the granite, create and revise the design until we all felt it was perfect, kept us informed with messages and pictures during the process and coordinated installation/placement. Harvard is a true professional, compassionate and thoughtful, I was so impressed with his knowledge, integrity and.wisdom. For those in our same situation, first my heart goes out to you. Second, just go to Harvard. You will be in excellent hands.

I asked HC Wood to do the engraving on my father's headstone, having searched for quite some time to find someone who would do it. I found them to be very professional, easy to work with, timely in their work, and the engraving was very well done. I was very pleased with my dealings with Mr. Wood and company, and highly recommend them.
