We are a sawmill with special expertise in custom cutting beams and timbers for your timber frame or other home improvement project including decorative beams and mantels. We can cut lengths up to 52 feet long in a wide variety of species native to Northeast Ohio. Other species including cherry, white oak, red oak, and more are available upon request as are custom dimensions.Air dried or kiln dried. Trees that make it to adulthood-to the point of being ready for harvest-are true survivors. They bear the signs and scars of their long history within their wood in the form of knots, holes, cracks, color variations and irregular grain patterns.

With our office located just 5 miles southwest of Akron, we serve the surrounding community within a 50+ mile radius to include market segments in Cleveland, Canton, Medina, Wooster, and Youngstown. We encourage serious inquiries to contact our office, where calls may be vetted and directed to a company representative who can assess the value and quantity of the timber you are looking to sell or remove.If an agreement is reached, we can come and get the trees or logs and hand you a check for the sum of the agreement.
This table will accurately estimate timbers with dimensions between 6"x6" - 12"x12" and lengths between 8 - 16 feet. To estimate timbers outside those ranges, please contact us. DESCRIPTION: Soft maple can be one of a number of different species of maple other than hard maple varieties. Therefore the color and grain varies but tends toward light brown with some pieces being cross-grained and/or colorful. In general, soft maple is easier to work, lighter in weight and density, and less strong compared to hard maple.

Dan Ogonek and two of his great craftsmen spent two days training with over 60 students ages 8th grade to high school seniors. As the instructor, I am so grateful for great men and companies like OCH. They are compelled to share their craft with the next generation. These experiences are so impactful in exposing students to careers that they never knew existed. Thanks Dan for giving to my students, great men make great men. OCH cares about community as well as their product.

RUN FAR AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESS! Dan Ogonek has had 20 walnut logs (approx. 2500 board feet of walnut) since 2013 and he has STILL NOT MILLED it! It would take like a couple days of work and for what reason I cannot imagine, he wont get it done. I had to hire a lawyer to get my cherry milled. It must have been a good business when his Dad ran it, but I have heard nothing but strife from people I've run into that have dealt with him.
His own employees said he has dozens of unfinished work and the out of state projects can't even sue him because cross-state litigation is so difficult. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DON'T GET NEAR THIS GUY. He's very nice and personable but for some reason can't seem to get anything done.

Ogonek Hardwoods--- I have used Ogonek hardwoods 3 different times over the past 12 years. Dan has cut various amounts of logs to custom lengths an widths for me. Dan has always been honest and helpful. When I first brought logs to him to have cut he helped me identify the wood an educated me on which species I had and the ones that were worth cutting. June of 2018 I brought some Cherry trees to him to cut and he helped me figure out what was the best sizes to have them cut into for an upcoming building I would like to build. Dan sat down with me showing me the best way and the amount of wood it will take to put up the building.
He also recommended a man to drop a few tree in my yard that I will be having milled. Over all I have found Dan to be kind upfront and helpful. His milling cost are reasonable. I believe its hard to find open, honest and trustworthy people/businesses. Dan and Ogonek Hardwoods is open, honest and trustworthy, and this is why I will continue to use him and may have them put up my building, also the fact that their expertise far exceeds my building abilities. This is why they are 5 star company.

Our first experience with Ogonek Custom Hardwoods was in 2002 when we were building a timberframe home. They made the oak and cherry tongue-and-grooved ceiling boards and lap jointed floor boards for the loft. Also they created beautiful locust and copper railings for the decks. Then they designed and built a totally unique, awesome oak and cherry timberframe 4-seasons room and porch from start to finish.
We couldn't be happier with the beauty and quality of their work plus they are wonderful to work with. We have recommended them to friends and family who have been equally pleased. -

Whoever says expectations ruin everything never met Dan and his crew of master wood workers. We had them install some decorative beams in our 1800's farm house. When they finished, you couldn't tell that they weren't part of the original structure. I would not hesitate to hire them in the future and will be recommending them to anyone looking for custom wood working.
