G. Allen founded his company shortly after the Civil War manufacturing the "Yankee" hay rake and other horse drawn farm equipment. In 1904 the Chas. G. Allen Co. manufactured it's first Upright Sensitive Drilling Machine and has manufactured over 36,000 machines to date, and along the way was awarded the Army/Navy Blue Gold Production Award for manufacturing excellence in support of the war effort.

Chas G Allen purchased additional high quality companies throughout its history, including; Norton Surface Grinders, Nichols Milling Machines, Cleereman Drilling Machines, Harper Mass Finishing, Fitchburg Engineering, Allen Pump and LA Simpson Machine Company.

We have been in business since 1874 and have manufactured over 48,000 custom and standard machines tools. Located on a 30 acre site in Barre, Massachusetts, Chas G. Allen has over 120,000 square feet of facilities. Our focus is our customers and we offer the superior quality and service you expect!
G. Allen, Inc. has manufactured a wide variety of upright sensitive drilling and tapping machines over the last century. From the very sensitive "Super Speed" model up through the powerful #3 power feed machines with a variety of available features. Below is a sampling of some of those machines. The Super Speed machines were manufactured in two basic models.
Allen added the Cleereman line of Drilling, Milling and Boring machines to its product mix in 1998. These rugged quality machines have been in service for years and Allen can provide new machines, factory rebuilt machines and original factory replacement parts including field and rebuilding services.
