Auburn Supply Company was founded shortly after World War II by the Purcell family and located in a small storefront in Chicago's Auburn Park neighborhood. The business eventually grew out of its Auburn Park location and moved farther south in the city near 95th Street and Vincennes Avenue. In 1959, Jack Smith, the company's only salesman was offered a minority stake in the business. He and his partner Bud Purcell continued growing the business, supplying plumbing materials to local plumbing contractors on Chicago's south side.

I drove 30 minutes to this place because somebody told me that they were supply house that's their specialty is plumbing so how is it that home Depot carries a fitting but they don't and they're of zero help trying to ask questions how I can make this work because I I'm still learning. Older guy was rude and completely helpless. I went outside to do a Google search looking for a part number went back in and talk to somebody completely different this guy was just fat and lazy neither of them wanted to look or help for $15 part but have 90s toilet's available to buy in front office.

Probably one of the best (if not the best) plumbing supply companies in the area. They have a great selection of plumbing supplies and a knowledgeable staff. I've purchased all my plumbing fixtures for my basement bar and kitchen remodel from Auburn supply. I miss the location (and fantastic showroom) that they used to have in Dyer, IN since it was closer to home seeing how I live in Indiana. Now I have to travel all the way to Markham, IL now, but still well worth it for the quality products.

I've known the owner for 30+ years, but that does not come into play when I deal with their staff, I remain anonymous. I purchased a Hi-efficiency power vent water heater from Auburn Supply in 2012 to replace the pair of 15 yr old power vents I had originally purchased from Auburn when I built my home. Recently the newer unit has been acting up and finally took a dump the other day.
I was able to get it running again, but thought I had better find out what the problem was with it and order the right replacement part FAST. An electronic starter issue was what I suspected. I spoke with one of the desk clerks at Auburn who couldn't tell me exactly what the issue was, but he knew I had a brain box malfunction. His recommendation to me was "your unit is still under warranty, bring it in and we'll replace it." You could have knocked me over with a feather.
A $900 water heater, and they just said, bring it in and we'll replace it for you! WOW. I brought the old water heater in, and to my surprise, the paperwork was done and waiting for me. I simply showed them my old receipt, signed a receipt that shows I took the new unit (warranty exchange) and I was loaded up and on my way. You would NOT get that kind of service from a big box store.
My hats off to Auburn Supply. I knew I purchased my plumbing supply from one of the best in the area, but I had no idea how great they were. I'd highly recommend checking these guys out when you're in the market for plumbing supplies. Bath, Kitchen etc. They have the quality components you need and most importantly they stand behind their products. Thank guys, I can't say enough good stuff about you. Glenn "Waz" Wisniewski

Wow. I never thought I could enjoy my time at a Plumbing Supply place. Auburn has first class customer service, first class variety, and everything we asked for was in-stock. We needed stuff for a gut renovation of two bathrooms. Kraig was patient, knowledgeable, honest, and thorough. He even threw in a small discount to take the edge off our huge bill.
I drove all the way here from Hyde Park with my plumber and it was well worth the trip. Their prices and service put Banner to shame; in spite of the fact that Banner is less than 2 miles from my house. I absolutely recommend Auburn - they will save you time, money, and frustration. Plus, you can buy cheaper gas out here - an added bonus to their low prices. Don't hesitate, just go there. and tell Kraig the lady from Trinidad said hi! :-
