There's a reason why I go to Canby Builders Supply. I'm not a contractor I don't know everything, they help and sometimes they have great help from people who know stuff, the big huge home improvement stores can't match the personal help, sometimes that can save you a lot of frustration and money if the people you're buying from know how to use the product they are selling. thank you,

I have done business with Canby builders supply for years, trying to keep it local. I purchased some Varathane from them, when I opened the can it was solidified! It has been in my home in my little tool room. It is in the middle of my house and is temperature controlled at all times, and the can has never been opened and the seal looked good. They would not exchange it and the young man I spoke with was quite short with me.
He said they only take returns within 90 days, so if buy something at our family owned business make sure to use your paint or varnishes within 90 days. I also paid much more than I would have at the big box stores and I'm sure they would have taken care of this to keep my business. I am so disappointed in the service of my small town family owned business. I will not shop their again.

Absolutely HORRIBLE customer service! Never have I seen such indifference and outright rudeness. I have lived in Canby 5 years and have gone here several times to save trip to Home Depot. Without fail, every single time I've left absolutely stunned at the incredibly poor customer service. And every single time I've left without item(s) I came for, all because someone couldn't take the time to assist me.
This last time all I wanted was to look at selection of wooden fence posts. I swear to god, I was told twice, "it depends on what you want".for christ sakes, that's why I want to look at them! Just one example, always the same though, unless you are a contractor, they couldn't care less about you as a customer. Save yourself a horrible experience and drive the extra miles to Home Depot or Ace Hardware, they're actually willing to help.

I had a crate being delivered and Canby Builders Supply was kind enough to let me ship it to their Canby location as I don't own a forklift. This was very helpful as I live not far away. I was willing to pay but the manager told me that he just wanted to help me out as I was a member of the Canby Community. Made my day and if that is the customer service I got I would recommend them highly. This staff really wants to help you and will go that extra mile that bigger chains just don't seem to be able to offer these days.

There was a day customers were valued, service was good, and crew were friendly. Sadly that seems to have changed. Now demands upon my person, control of my face supersedes customer service and satisfaction. I found the crew hostile tho I was outside. I bought some small sheetrock. I enquired about spray texture but was wrung up with no attempt to fill the additional items that would be ten times the sale.
I just noted this is a dramatic shift away to the friendly service I have known for about 30 years. While I appreciate the position the businesses are in with unconstitutional orders and OSHA over reach I retain my rights to my person. That will not be exchanged for a opportunity to purchase your products. No. I will simply move my purchases to a company that values me as a customer and desires my business.
You might consider the big box curbside option. I have no intention to enter your quarantined store exchanging control of my face and evidently you would rather I take my money elsewhere. As a paying customer the shift is real.

I'm always one to shop and support local business. I moved to canby less than a week ago and during moving we needed a few bolts for a TV stand. My wife travelled to canby builder supply to find these bolts. My wife was greeted by rude, condescending employees who would act like they have no obligation to help the customer or answer questions.
We found ourselves in Home Depot the next day for some tools, so I approached the old gentlemen at the bolt section. It was a night and day difference. He was super helpful and got me exactly what I needed quickly. Needless to say I'll be making a trip to Oregon city Home Depot for all of my hardware needs.

If I could rate it as a minus, I would! We have lived in Canby for 35 yrs., and Canby Builders has always been a staple in our community.however, there is now an attitude of arrogance and condescension which is horrible! The woman at the counter (Robin) could not have been more rude and unhelpful - I am not sure what has happened to Canby Builders, but customer is definitely no longer a priority.

I only leave good reviews usually, however, after 5 months of dealing with this company I have decided to speak the truth of my situation. Ordered some materials, driver hits my fence backing into the driveway. Not a big deal everyone is respectful and we exchange information and Canby Supply reassures me everything will be fine and they will take care of the repair cost.
My wife takes the invoice to Canby Supply and they again reassure us they will take care of it. They do not pay it so 2 months later I take the invoice in, Canby Supply says sorry, they will take care of it. Now 5 months later they still have not paid the invoice. So for the last week I have been trying to track down Mike Maxwell, leaving him VM's to call me back trying to be still respectful.
I get it we are all busy, but disrespecting a client over and over again should get you at least a conversation with management as to why you are dealing with Safety concerns of drivers and lying to clients.

I would give them minus five stars if possible. I prefer to shop locally when possible, but every time I go to Canby builders supply I'm disappointed. Either the counter people don't have any idea what I'm talking about, or the price is three times what is anywhere else, or a combination of both. Won't be going back.

Our company uses Canby Lumber routinely for orders large and small and have never had anything less than a stellar experience. Aside from having an excellent selection of building materials and being price competitive, their team has bent over backwards on more than one occasion to make us a priority on special orders and treated us like their number one customer since our first transaction. In all my years, I've never had a better experience with a supplier and we will never take our business anyplace else.

They are loosing my business after many years of feeling this is the go to place in my contracting. All I needed was a kind response from a delivery driver about instructions on a new road with lots of rain and some soft spots. He really got me mad with his smart mouth nearly yelling on the phone before delivery. This really got to me as we were barely getting the job off the ground with the weather problems.
I was in the yard about week later to give this driver a chance to apologize and only got a similar smart mouth response. This time I really got mad. I acted poorly, but this guy needed to hear it. So I let him have my gut reaction (without specifics of course) Now Craig, a new driver. he is the best I've probably ever seen. Great attitude Knows exactly what he is doing is the opposite of another new guy they sent out for a final finish up load delivery.
This guy was divergent and was attempting to keep the fued. along with some underlying bad treatment now from other employees. Having the total on an 18 unit window package, I called this gal and left a message with some questions before ordering said package. She never called back and was just another indication this yard does not want my business.
I have to say thank you also. I called Parr lumber and got the same window package for roughly a thousand less. Thank you as this helps the nice owner (refund to her) I am trying so hard to make happy in spite of all the difficulties. Unlike some, the concrete guys, gravel guys, concrete pumping guys, Josh at Canby builders, John Caby Builders and finally Craig at Canby builders were the best. Thank you

Brought my mom in for her first visit Monday July 16th and a female employee 30's, dark shoulder length hair at the first counter to the left could NOT have been ruder! Mom needed a special sized lightbulb for her ceiling fan and needless to say we were left to look for it alone and never found it. I felt terrible because I had bragged the store up as my favorite!

I love that I don't have to go to Home Depot anymore! The staff is always incredible helpful and knowledgable, they have an excellent selection of hardware and some fun unique items. The only negatives I can think of are their limited lumber selection and the hours. Seriously, a girl would like to go to the hardware store without her kids! The hubs doesn't get home til 5, and I can never manage to make it in by 6.

My husband and I moved to the area a few months ago and this store has been very helpful. The staff inside are plenty-knowledgeable about paint, random home improvement questions, etc. We've needed plenty of tools and supplies and this lovely, local store has had most of the items we needed. If you need a serious selection of power tools or lawn/garden items, this might not be the place for you. Nevertheless, for local homeowners, this is a great store for Canby and surrounding areas.

I try to support local small businesses, so instead of going to Lowes to get wood slats for a new bed frame I tried here on the way home. I walked in, went to the section, couldn't find anything because none of the wood was marked and was very disorganized. I finally found three pieces I thought might work so carried three eight foot boards to an area where four large men were sitting at desks, and one was helping another man at the counter.
I stood there for at least five minutes and no one said a word to me. Guess I will stick to GW Hardware in Woodburn where they greet you when you walk in and actually help customers.
