I am giving two stars because that the only store that charge you 3% when you use the Credit Card! I called as soon as I realized the front receipt (pink sheet) did not match with the CC receipt in the back. I bet, They do it intencionally! I called to ask why they are doing this, they answer "I believe there is a sign in front that mention that charge" "SHE BELIEVED" She is not even sure.
This behavior is unlawfull in California! I am a General Contractor who buys big chuncks of material, now that I am relizing this bad customer service. CHANNEL LUMBER WON'T BE MY FIRST OPTION!

Worked here from 11-1972 to 3-1973 Age 15 1/2 (David Jenkins). Left the company after I accidentally saw off a co-workers finger on a large table saw. Company was owned by Guido Addiego (1944-2013). My mother (Esther Jenkins) worked with his wife Yolanda Addiego at Blue Cross in Oakland, Ca for 1 year. Became longtime friends of the family for over 40+ years. Wife still lives in Vacaville, CA

I had estimates out to Channel and.another lumberyard in the area. Aida from Channel was all over it. She was able to get her buyer to make a special order and they gave me a great deal on milling. I had to chase the guy from the other lumberyard down for hours. I know where I'm taking my business to.

I needed 8 ft. 2 X 8 #1 Kiln Dried Douglas Fir. I bought nine of them at twice the price Home Depot wanted for green ones. I reconciled to the price ($175), naively thinking I would get quality lumber. The salesman assured me I would, and it would be finished. The yard loads your lumber ("no self service") and displays a large sign saying they are not responsible for damage to your vehicle when they load. (?!) They loaded it, and it looked OK.
However I decided to reload them in the bed of my truck. Suddenly I uncover hidden boards with as much as an inch width of bark where there should be wood. Some boards were badly gouged by some pretty nasty "finishing" and sawing. Deep pits were everywhere. One end had a crack 3/8" wide. There were many knots, some of them badly cracked. Two boards had gouges away from the ends and so deep that they could not be used in the door I was creating. Fortunately they worked as braces for the door, where one side was not visible.
I said something to a yard guy, who suggested I talk to someone in the office, but he made it clear that they do not let you choose your lumber at this business. Since I was going to rip these down to 6.1", joint and plane them to a uniform thickness, and then take a foot off their length, I let it go. These boards were so poorly "finished' that their finished thickness was 1.1", down from the original 1.5" thickness. Overall the quality was that of Home Depot #2, but you were not allowed to pick out the culls. I think I won't come back.

This people really need to work on customer service, they are kind of arrogant and couldn't even give me a price over the phone, the guy (Dave I guess) suggested me to go to Home Depot since they only work with premium quality and thus he was unable to give me prices. This is even after I told him I wanted to know the price for their "premium quality". Pretty rude in my opinion.

I went to Channel Lumber last week to get some lumber for a backyard fence and a deck project that I am working on. I am a green consumer so I was pleased to learn that Channel Lumber has inventory that is certified green by the Forest Stewardship Council. The staff was knowledgeable and courteous. I am not all that savvy about wood, costs, but got the help I needed to make a good purchase. I recommend Channel Lumber highly.

Worst place ever! Poor quality lumbar.delivery guy broke some boards when he made his delivery and could not have been more rude, disrespectful and arrogant. Almost all the guys that work here. Especially Eric the so called manager are jerks! I just moved to Richmond and was trying to use someone local to get my Lumbar to build a fence in my front yard. Biggest mistake ever!
My next project I'll be sure to go back to ashby lumbar in Berkeley. When I was returning the lumbar that was broken Eric the a-hole kept giving my wife the run-around and would never give us a refund to what was rightfully ours until we went down there with receipts in hand and even than he was chicken and left early even though we made an appointment with him to fix the problem. I know a lot of contractors and construction firms and will have nothing nice to say about this place at all. Especially mr manager Eric!

Flim flam sales for the quality of the finish work then the end results through the mill may make one vomit. Nothing matches for the mill workers selection of the clear boards, many of the final boards are split, total butt ugly clear wood some clear the others streaked two tone. Anything from this outfit will have to be painted. Do not waste your time or get burned by these jokers for finish lumber. Go to a lumber yard of quality like Truitt & White or Ashby Lumber for much better finish materials.
