1957 - Armando Losco and Edward Polinski former Westinghouse Inc. electrical engineers founded Terrace Electronics in Verona, N.J.- manufacturing neon glow lamps and electronic tubes. 1958 - Joseph G. Losco joined the company to develop quartz mercury vapor lamps for the rapidly growing blue print industry.
1960 to 1961- Terrace Electronics (neon glow lamp manufacturing division) was sold and then the company incorporated under the current name Superior Quartz Products, Inc. (SQP). The manufacturing facility moved to Budd Lake, N.J. and now focused completely on quartz mercury vapor lamps.

The High-Power Ultra-Violet (HPUV) Lamps are simply put, an electrical arc of light contained in a sealed, Mercury-doped environment. The combination of the Mercury and the Quartz tube itself results in a radiated output with very specific characteristics, with most output very deep in the UV spectrum.
Superior Quartz Products' air cooled xenon short arc lamps, also known as compact arc lamps, provide the highest luminance and radiance of any continuously operated light source. The lamps produce a highly stable uniform light source in the ultraviolet, visible and infrared spectral ranges. A wide range of configurations are offered, with power levels ranging from 150 watts to 10,000 watts and orientations can be vertical or horizonal. The luminous efficacy of the lamps varies from 15 to 45 lumens per watt depending on the lamp wattage.
Superior Quartz Products' liquid cooled xenon short arc lamps, are on a fundamental level, the same lamp as the air cooled short arc xenon lamps but on a much larger scale. They are the biggest and most powerful lamps in the xenon short arc family. These large and ultra-high powered lamps were developed for highly specialized applications.
