Less impacted by changes in humidity that cause warping, cracking, shrinking and swelling. Delta Millworks was built on reclaiming Longleaf Pine; so when Elizabeth Alford and Michael Young of Pollen Architecture were building their personal home, they reached out to our founder, Bob Davis for the longleaf pine paneling. The grain and detail of the wood created a clean and natural look while upholding their design vision. See the finished project and hear about their process and ideas behind the home in their own words.
Services
Delta Millworks is a culmination of all of the lessons learned, techniques mastered, and clients serviced over our 35 years of history. You can see it in our technique, the quality of all of the wood we sell, and most of all, and in our opinion most importantly, in the way that we build relationships with our customers.
Delta Millworks was founded in Austin (in the same building we work from today) by Bob Davis, with a focus on Architectural Millwork & Reclaimed Longleaf Pine. Exclusively using Longleaf Pine, Delta Millworks provided the architectural millwork for a 4-year restoration of the Texas State Capitol. The Delta team begins experimenting with burning wood using a torch, unaware we were reviving the ancient Japanese technique of burning wood, shou-sugi-ban.Delta Millworks introduces the architectural and design community to modern shou-sugi-ban and sells our first shou-sugi-ban cladding job.
Delta Millworks' exterior cladding products are made to last, providing beauty and longevity in unforgiving environments. European-sourced modified woods like Accoya and Kebony utilize the world's best technologies in wood modification to provide products that can hold up for decades due to their clean treatment process.
Less impacted by changes in humidity that can cause warping, cracking, shrinking and swelling. Has a distinctive chocolate brown or tan color all the way to the core due to the caramelization of sugars in the wood during the process, making it a great unfinished cladding option. At Delta, we do not only create visually appealing products, we make products and finishes that stand up to the test of time. We tested comparable competitor samples for a period of time to assess how our burning & staining methods compared to others in the market.

Made a special order. They charged me alot for this. They were supposed to match an existing floor. I sent samples and pictures. When the floor arrived a month late it was the wrong floor. It looked nothing like what I ordered. When Brandon finally returned my emails he told me to stain over the knots. There are hundreds of knots. The floor samples I sent were grade A white oak.
This floor I was sent was not. They either used a different wood or the cheapest grade of oak. Not to mention the color weight was all wrong. I was charged top price for this floor. Now waiting over a week for them to make this right. So far they told me get someone to stain it. This is not making things right.

We built a custom home about 2.5 years ago and used a large amount of the accoya gator boards. During installation there were a few issues that began to show not long after we moved in. I contacted Delta Mill Works and they were happy to take care of the issues and sent a couple guys out to our home to re-burn several spots. It made an unbelievable difference and we are thrilled with how it turned out. Thank you guys for taking care of this!

I bought very expensive sho shugi ban fencing and the quality was aweful. It started falling apart in about a year. They tried to get out of warranty but after 6 months, finally sent replacement boards. They initially offered to replace and reseal all fencing but ended up doing nothing. They were aweful. Also sent wrong style both the initial order and then replacement order. Find Sho Shugi Bam somewhere else.

Do NOT WASTE YOUR TIME! Was seriously so excited to use Delta Millworks for my new home being built downtown. and I ALWAYS try to use local! Beware Beware BEWARE! Use Matchstick Woods out of Dallas, you'll have one hell of hard time with Delta Millworks! Contacted delta back in May (6 months ago) to ensure all was lined up for the project. Met with a rep Erik, scheduled a meeting at their offices, had GC in contact with rep, GC went to offices and gave measurements, etc. all was squared away for a DIY pack for an accent wall and some exposed beams to be wrapped. yay!
Fast forward: When I called in November to pull the trigger and gave ample lead time for my specific project. what do you know. the sales rep I worked with no longer there, DIY packs are no longer. actually they were never available to begin with. the rep "was selling creatively" I was told by management. so then, I was deferred to a gal sales rep who was so extremely lazy in regards to her job.
I had to pull old emails and correspondence about my project (which she had access to) in regards to all details discussed with my prior delta rep for my project. Took two weeks to even get her to call me back only to be told "I'm going on holiday for a week". I patiently awaited no response weeks went by. my builder is awaiting details, specs, and PRICE (which was very different than originally discussed) she then sends info to my GC (WITH WRONG SQUARE FOOTAGE) but skipped me entirely. the customer.
May vs November bids were so extremely DIFFERENT! Had to request for fourth time to see my own bid over 3 weeks. when finally I got it to makes sense of all the changes I decided to investigate more. After all this confusion and now wasted time & money on my behalf. I bypassed her because it seems she had never worked with any clients or projects nor was familiar with any inventory/pricing. sooooo I called the Vice President of Delta. he as well, was of very little help, he was very kind on the phone but didn't follow up with anything we discussed, nor cured any issues I brought up.
Nor ANY of the info I requested was sent. So that's when I started reading how common this is for Delta. problems that is. My project was small in scale but to be treated so poorly has left me bitter. so much so, our friends pulled their project from Delta as well due to similar issues. We're using a competitor for all other projects and specs. Guess their MO is only after commercial projects.
I found exact look/style of wood with no lead time, no "set up fees", and people who actually call you back same day. ALL FOR 36% less $$$ than Delta at MatchStick Woods. Good luck! Their reviews speak for themselves.
