Services
We provide, install, sand, and finish virtually every type of hardwood flooring in residential construction. We specialize primarily in "real" hardwood flooring - unfinished strip flooring that is sanded and finished on-site. We provide and install many different species of hardwood for builders as well as individuals, both in new construction as well as in remodels.
Sub-floor can be 2x8 decking if not too uneven. In this case, flooring must be laid across the decking. However, for a much better sub-floor, you should lay a minimum 3/8 CDX plywood over the decking. In this case, flooring may be laid in any direction you choose. Average moisture of sub-floor should be no higher than 12% before delivery and installation of flooring.

Refinished the oak floors in our 1950 home. Dave explained everything clearly, gave a reasonable quote, and had his people show up on time to do the work -- sanding, puttying butt joints, finishing, and buffing. My wife and I recently bought a house which had some hardwood floors desperately in need of refinishing. We called and got a quote the same day and were able to have our floors finished before we moved in. It was clear that Dave and his crew knew what they were doing and took pride in the work they do. They took the time to explain the needs of our floor and answered all of our questions. It was a pleasant experience from start to finish. Our white oak floors turned out awesome. Dave and his employees did such a great job! As part of our closing arrangement we had to get the floors done in our new home on a time crunch and in addition to making sure we met our deadline, Dave consistently took into account other renovation projects happening at the same time in order to make sure his work was completed smoothly. Even after the completion of the installation, I've called Dave up more than once, for advice and help on how to approach continued renovations in our home and he's been super in getting things done! I highly recommend Salem Hardwood Floors to anyone!

When we recently purchased a new home, the flooring was our first priority. I called Dave at Salem Hardwood immediately and didn't bother to get a competing bid. We used them over a decade ago and found their work very high quality and the price reasonable. Salem Hardwood did not disappoint. We added oak floors to in the living room, dining room, and kitchen of our new home, which already had wood floors in the bedrooms.
In addition, we had stairs redone to match. The craftsmanship is incredible as evidenced by their patching in wood to match the two rooms. In addition, they were timely, flexible, responsive and very easy to work with. He dropped off wood within a few days of closing and finished up exactly on schedule.

Dave and his crew were all so nice, hard-working and accommodating! I have two renters who work night shift and sleep during the day, and they were excellent at working fast, limiting noise and communicating with and organizing best times to work around the schedule of my renters. I was so impressed with my beautiful flooring! They even finished a whole week ahead of schedule!

Salem Hardwood did such a fantastic job refinishing our floors. They had not been restored in several years, and needed a great deal of TLC. We are getting ready to move and needed them to look amazing--the job did not disappoint. Dave was so kind and helpful, responding right away and working with our timeline. He was also very accommodating to us with our family schedules and pet concerns. Bottom Line--Great Guy and GREAT work! We could not be happier.

Dave and his crew were fantastic. We loved the job that they did. I was going to go with a water base finish and Dave was able to show me the difference from water and oil. I went with the oil and so happy that I did. It shows the beauty of the oak, whereas water base tends to cover that. They finished the floors in just a few days, whereas the others that bid us, priced higher by the way, told us that they would be 6 to 14 days. Wonderful company! 3 Bids and Salem Hardwood Floors was the one!
