Ideally, anchor bolts are anchoring rods poured in place in concrete. First lets look at "true" anchor bolts, those poured in place. Most anchor bolts in this category are specified as ASTM F1554 grade 36, grade 55 or grade 105. L shaped, bent anchor bolts have long been the standard in this category.
What is F1554? F1554 is an ASTM specification for cast in place anchor bolts. It was established to clarify material properties for anchor rods used in concrete. Prior to it's creation, concrete anchor bolts were most commonly specified using the generic round bar specification A36 or the headed hex bolt specification A307.
Fully threaded studs are short rods that have no head and are threaded along their entire length. These studs, also called threaded rods, all thread studs and epoxy rods can be used for all-purpose fastening of almost anything. When used as an epoxy anchor bolt, they are dropped in predrilled holes in concrete and secured with high strength epoxy.
Atlantic Bolt carries many common sizes of regular weld studs (also called headed concrete anchors, shear connectors, and shear studs). Weld studs are placed in contact with a beam or other metal work plate, and welded into place using a Stud Gun. The studs have a small bead of "flux" on the end to facilitate good weld contact when using the Stud Gun.
