Gothic Cabinet Craft

Gothic Cabinet built us beautiful custom radiator / AC covers for our apartment. We worked with Tony and he exceeded our expectations for delivering high quality covers with a lot of built in storage. They were even able to build around our existing metal radiator/ AC cover frame since we couldn't get those removed. It took about 5 months from start to finish, but we had been warned about the timing when we started the project so that wasn't a surprise. We truly could t be happier with the exceptional work and customer service from Gothic.

Gothic Cabinet Craft is the first place my family purchased furniture when we moved to Manhattan. The armoire was left behind during the last move to my daughters current apartment. The six drawer bedroom chest went through a few changes in color but it is still in daily use since 1997. The furniture is basic wood that lasts with care. You can have them paint it or do it yourself.

When we ordered it was to furnish my daughters first apartment after college. They delivered everything without a problem. My daughter had a nightstand too. That was another item she left on the curb when she moved. There wasn't anything wrong with it, her taste changed. Basically the six drawer bedroom chest is a necessity. She knows not to get rid of it.

Since I paid to furnish her first apartment I'm sure I would find a place for it. I'm a fan of Gothic and would definitely purchase from them again if the need arises.

Despite supply chain issues, our king-size storage bed arrived on time. It is very well constructed and great quality. We got exactly what we ordered and what we wanted. Such a great experience with Gothic. Would use them again in a heartbeat.

There's a reason Gothic has been around for decades. Okay, a few reasons. The quality, price, and customer service simply can not be better! I love Aris! What a Godsend! I have never had a better customer experience buying anything for my home. My bed and dresser are stunning! Aris went above and beyond to be so helpful with his expertise. See, this is where you go if you don't want to deal with pushy salespeople. It's nice to have furniture that is actual solid wood and will last more than five years.

The craftsmanship truly is incredible! Like I said, Gothic has been around for decades. I know it's been around for decades because it's been around for as long as I can remember and I've been around for a few decades. Gothic has been around even longer than me! If you order something custom it will take a minute for it to be built but it's so worth it. It really is. You will not be disappointed one bit!

Bought a dresser three years ago, fell apart, the customer service guy was rude and hung up on me, I guess it really doesn't matter though because all of their store are closing so it really doesn't pay to buy anything g from them if something goes wrong with your furniture they will either be rude and hang up or by them there won't be anyone to call or complain to bc they might be out of business. This used to be a quality place to by furniture, key word is USED to be

Unfortunately, everyone is doing home remodeling during the pandemic, so it took a long time. But we did get a gorgeous radiator cover with two chests of dressers on either side. Tony in the UWS store is great! Pablo, the carpenter/installer was also wonderful.

Gothic met our high expectations for beautiful, built-in radiator covers with maximum storage space. These beauties are expert-crafted, flawless, and exceeded every expectation we had for them. The level of service from Tony (who measured, took our order, and managed the process from end-to-end) to the lovely installers (who came twice - once for the initial install, and another time to install the quartz top) was also exceptional. Of course, as this is custom work we had done during COVID, timelines were extended, but we are so, so pleased with the end result that it was well worth the wait.

I recently ordered some bookshelves and the components of a desk custom-made by Gothic. They did an excellent job. Aris was was so helpful with both the design, the choice of wood, and the organization of the delivery. The pieces arrived on time and in excellent condition. Highly recommended.

It's interesting to me that all the reviews for GOTHIC cabinet craft are five stars or one star. GOTHIC is one of the few furniture stores around that uses decent materials and from what I've seen, competent craftsmanship. A few years ago I did have one iffy experience with uneven staining on a platform bed and the use of plywood on the base where something stronger should have been, but guess what?

They quickly rectified and replaced the bed. Since the Upper East Side location closed I took myself over to the Upper West Side showroom. It's a handsome place that you won't see the likes of (unless you consider some of the tackier furniture showrooms interesting). I went for a floor sample bookcase and was not disappointed. I found exactly what I wanted and was treated very well. Yelp is a very deceptive platform that can take a reputation down with a few unflattering reviews by a bunch of babies who should have a little more self-control. In my opinion Gothic is the kind of affordable, attractive furniture store New York City needs. And no assembly needed!

Those of us who are old school, native New Yorkers know: If there's one place to go for built ins, it's RIGHT HERE at Gothic Cabinet. At a time when so many NY institutions are disappearing, I thank God that Gothic Cabinet is still with us. And during these times when we're all spending so much time in our homes, they understand the impact and importance of delivering a high quality, classic product - and they take the time to make sure everything is correct and right, and customized properly.

They won't let you down on any level and I can't recommend them more highly. Recently I decided to add built in bookshelves to my living room and from the start, Tony at the upper Broadway store knew exactly what I was aiming for, and he and his team delivered with flying colors. From the design phase through the measurement phase and then during the actual installation, my experience with them was exceptional.

They understood I was looking to add value to my home - and that I needed to get the most function out of the available space - and they delivered on both fronts - at a price point that was competitive with other options (not that I was really going to trust anyone else to do it.) Installation took a day. The crew was wonderful and did a terrific clean up job after.

And given I live in an older, quirky building, with uneven floors, there were some tricky spots here and there, but the installation guys had immediate, professional solutions and the end result (in my mind) is flawless. These shelves honestly surpassed my expectations and are now the focal point of my home. If you're considering built ins, and you're a real New Yorker, don't mess around: GO SEE TONY.

Don't bother with a custom captain's bed. I needed something 36" longer, 4" less deep and 3" taller than their Captain's bed. Also since it was built in I didn't need it finished on 3 sides. However their cost was 5 times the price! These workers must get paid in the hundreds of dollars an hour for their labor. Keep looking.

Recently, Gothic Cabinet installed two bookcase/cabinets in our Manhattan apartment. The cabinets were sorely needed to provide organization and storage. While the pandemic required a delay in installation, it was well worth the wait. As with any construction project, the customer has needs and wishes. In the case with our project, functionality and storage were at the top of the list.

When we met Aris Voulamandis, Gothic representative at the upper Broadway store, the first impression was "this guy knows what he's doing." Aris interpretation of our ideas were executed into meticulous drawings for our approval before the project was assigned to the factory. Only Excellent can be said of Pablo and his co-worker who installed our cabinetry.

Both installers were on-time with the delivery and made sure the installation was correct before leaving. As for completion, the installers inspected their work, cleaned and vacuumed leaving nothing our of order. We are very pleased with the design, construction and meticulous care in the installation from Gothic. Hats-off to Ari Voulamandis for refining our original design requests and managing our project and to the installers for their professional and meticulous installation.

I wish I could give 41/2 stars as this was almost a perfect experience. The cabinet is absolutely gorgeous. It is quite unique and completely custom made for the space and my needs. (see pics) Tony did an excellent job of designing for our space. It was measured very accurately and looks like it came with the room. The pull-outs are really cool and with several command hooks (which we planned with Gothic) I was able to really take advantage of the space.

The cubbies on the right were a great addition and I seem to have a place for everything. It was beautifully painted. not too glossy.just right. Very happy with the pewter hardware. The whole unit just looks beautiful and classy. The installation was remarkable. The workmen were not only efficient and responsive to my questions but I have never seen such a clean install.

They had a vacuum with them and other cleaning supplies and covered the room (my bed etc) so that afterwards there was NO cleanup for me to do. I was really impressed! So the 1/2 star for the following: Took almost 3 months to get it instead of 2 as promised. But we did order around the holidays! There were two missing knobs and two missing small shelves and they forgot the closet rods. But. the installers went out and bought really good heavy duty rods same day and installed them.

And the other missing items were delivered and installed 10 days later. So all in all an excellent experience and we are already planning to buy another item this week. A beautiful table and two chairs!

I have had things built by Gothic before and was more than pleased. This time I had a large wall unit built for my living room. Aris (store manager) was very accommodating; he came up to my apartment to measure and discuss the particulars. He took his time to explain various options; showed me photos; did a rendering; so I knew what to expect. The wall unit came out looking even better than expected.

My husband and I are in the process of putting books and other items in it. Aris has offered to give us extra shelves for free, should there be a need. I've already gotten compliments on it, and expect to have it for the rest of my life. The price was beyond reasonable--actually lower than other places that do not provide as good a service. (I've had b ad experiences with custom built furniture in the past) It was painted the color of my choice and looks like formica, although much less expensive than formica. It's also easy to keep clean. So. if you'd like to have custom built furniture, I highly recommend Gothic.

I also recommend working directly with Aris in the store because he provides that added personal touch that is always welcome. I will add a photo when we've filled the shelves

I love my Z Desk! It was exactly what I was looking for. My job requires me to have a home office, and I was looking for a desk that is stylish, classic, had drawer space, and was able to accommodate a computer docking station, with 2 wide screen monitors. I am able to organize my files while working on the computer and taking conference calls in one place.

The quality of the build and wood of this desk is beautiful. I was also able to choose any finishing stain I wanted from a quick visit to one of the Gothic showrooms. Also, I cannot say enough about the delivery; the installation and build of the team that delivered the desk were A+. They cleaned up after themselves and wanted to ensure they built the desk exactly where I wanted it in my home. I am so happy I went with Gothic for my home office space.

Very mixed feelings. I walked into a store in my neighborhood and was excited about my purchase and when I received it it was in fact a bookcase made of solid wood with the finish that I requested on it. What surprised me is the fact that the wood is very rough and low quality. If you run a soft rag ( or your hand) across the surface it will snag the cloth because the wood was never sanded not even slightly.

And one of my shelves was deeply warped and cracked that I couldnt use it. So basically this review is to say that you should expect much lower quality than what is in the showrooms. I kept my piece because it is in a dimly lit room.

Solid furniture. Built to last. Great prices and very helpful staff. 10/10

I ordered a wooden wardrobe several months ago. It was comparatively cheap, but still a significant expense -- around $900 -- and made of the lowest quality wood. The doors were attached unevenly, and the hinges were crooked. They never opened or closed properly. Within a month, it was already falling apart. Now it's garbage. You'd do better at any vintage store.

I came here searching for a dresser and this place had nothing in the store. Everything needs to be ordered and the prices are ridiculous. 800 dollars for a single dresser. Plus the person sitting at the desk did not even ask is we needed help. Highly disappointing. Would never return or recommend

The dresser is decent, nothing special but not bad either. The unfortunate aspect is the scam they run with AM Trucking. They will sell you a delivery service for AM Trucking that has a slightly different name than AM Trucking gives that service. Then AM Trucking will refuse to provide the service since the names don't match. Gothic sells you "In Home Drop Off" that is described as "White glove service which includes carrying your items into the room of your choice (maximum up one flight of stairs), unpacking and removal of packaging materials. *AM Home Exclusive.

AM Trucking does not have a service called In Home Drop OFF and they will deny you their White glove service since it is not called out in the billing statement. I am not sure which company is pocketing the approximately $80 per piece of furniture but whichever it is, is making a killing in theft.

0 stars for these low lives who knowingly delivered a damaged bookshelf to my home. We ordered a bookshelf and I waited at home for them to deliver it. The delivery people dropped it off I tipped them $10 each. As they're going to leave, I notice a huge gash and wood missing in the bookshelf. I immediately call Gothic and say "hi, I just got a bookshelf delivered and it's damaged." The voice goes, "yeah so what do you want to do?" I WANT A MOTHER JUMPING UNDAMAGED BOOKSHELF! I used a work from home to day to wait for this piece of junk! They were totally unapologetic and wasted my time. I will never shop here again ever.

I enjoy visiting this store. Furniture is well made, customer service is very good, and furniture arrives as expected. I bought a captain bed this year and it was in absolutely great condition. We use it as a day bed in our living room with lots of body pillows and it looks so pretty. Yesterday, I walked in with two things in mind, a bookshelf and chest.

I always walk in with a printout of the items I want and ask to see samples in person. My recommendation is: measure your space, understand what you want, bring some samples from the site, and come in with an idea of the stain you're seeking. I don't like to waste time, especially if I know most of their inventory is on their website. If you get something, they're happy, but if you don't, they still seem patient, listen keenly, and offer several details to help with your decision.

I live in California and the phone service was excellent. The shipping was also top notch.
