They sold me a pair of snow chains yesterday for my truck for $150. ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY DOLLARS. The tensioner was no where near the right size - way too small - so at least switched that part out. I have wasted lots of money on snow chains over the years, but they get the TROPHY for #1 PRICE GOUGER during a WINTER STORM

I wood like to thank Sonny the employee that was on his break on Wednesday May 19 when I asked him if he had anymore shopvacs aside from what was inside the store. He stopped his break and opened up the storage connex and found me the shopvac I needed when other employees told me what they had was on the sales floor. Sonny had a great attitude and professionalism that will keep me shopping at this Ace Hardware. THANK YOU SONNY YOU MADE MY DAY. CATHY BRUSSEAU TWAIN HARTE RESIDENT

I love well stocked hardware stores! It's amazing what you can find! Things that make life easier, cleaner, safer and get that nagging task done! This Ace store is loaded with so many essentials- all well placed, organized and neatly kept. We found the socket and cover plate we needed quickly and there were staff people available to help find stuff.
We know because several people had someone escort them right to the item they wanted. Thanks for such a great store. Keys, canning supplies, tape, electrical and plumbing. they have it.

I have been in the store many times because I am local to Twain Harte. One thing I noticed is several staff members, one comes to mind in particular. This person is snappy, rude and doesn't present a positive attitude which results in a poor reflection on the store. If that's the way this person treats locals, then you're are probably losing repeat business.

If I could give this negative 5 stars, I would, I was interning the store and I asked where do you go to get lumber, she snapped back at me "I busy, go to the back and give them your order. So I proceeded to the back, a young guy saw me looking around ask, what I needed I pulled out my list he takes me to this.bin and there hardly anything there, I saw one that was bowed and it was the only one that size, the other sizes were warp, twested, chipped, cracks but I had thought I picked out some nice ones, so he gave me a ticket to take up front, she rang me up over $250.00 I nearly fell over, as I got to the back I was looking at the receipt to see what happen, surely there has to be a mistake and I see the 10ft cost more then the 13 ft so I asked why is this so much more, he looking at it kinda baffled not knowing what to say, I said how can you charge premium price for twisted, not great quality, blank look on his face This older guy come up and says let me see hands him back the receipt and says that the way it works out sometimes, if I wasn't on a time schedule I would have given him back the lumber.
When I got home all the wood I got was not what I picked out except The 13ft as they only had one I know this because when I was looking for the ones I wanted one that I didn't want had "b" on it and it was twisted and I ask is this b meaning B grade, he said yes, so I was making sure nothing was written on the ones I pick out yet here it is. I live 4 miles away, but I will drive to Sacramento before I go there again, ever.

I grew up in Sonora and I love supporting the smaller stores in the community when I can. I was in Twain Harte recently because I have an investment property in the area that I am working on. Because the store is so spread out across many different rooms and buildings everything was so disorganized and hard to find. When I finally found someone to help me they led me to a whole different building and rang me out for my two items.
One of the items required someone to bring something out to my car, which they did. As I was loading the item into my car the owner or who I believe is the owner, ran after me because he thought I was stealing the item which I had already paid for. He actually took the item out of my hands and brought it back in the store before I could explain that I had already purchased the item. I will definitely not be going back and I encourage others to shop at the other hardware stores in town like Lowe's because this place is not worth the trouble.

Ubelivable you cant get a measuremet right in cutting lumber. firsy you were rude to a lady of a certain age, then i told you the size i wanted 2 pieces of wood cut. a total of 50 inches, you told me i would have to buy a full 24foot piece, then decided you would cut it in half then cut my 33 1/2 " and 16 1/" piece and you could not get either of them right. neither fit! you were then going to keep the left over piece but i still had to pay for it. how do you stay in business?

Greatest place in the middle of nowhere! They have everything you need for every project. They even have environment friendly presto type logs for so much cheaper than Safeway or other retailers. The staff has really impressed me as they cut wood to the dimensions I needed. Helpful staff. Points program, send gift cards for spending in store with their rewards program.

They DEFINITELY have a ton of things but the help is less the stellar. We went in looking for a few specific items and the people working there didn't even look us in the face when we talked to them. Just felt super brushed off. We saw two other customers treated the same way. Now, they could have been very busy which I totally understand. HOWEVER looking up really wouldn't have interfered with their duties.

All the things that typically make me (more) nuts are represented in this one location. It's overstuffed, pricey, full of rabbit holes, disheveled, tiny and ever so slightly dusty. Yet it's not. One just has to alter their perspective a bit and it becomes quite charming. (I know, hardware stores aren't supposed to be 'charming' but you'll just have to trust me on this and that you will indeed exit the experience with all the full male grunting abilities you entered with.
Perhaps even more) This place has everything. Every. Thing. Therein lay the beauty of the store; each visit is like a hunting trip or safari into the wilderness of hardware. (See, I told you your manly man-ness would remain in place) One climbs when here to get to the Peak of Mount Ancient Fuse, swims across oceans of bolts and descends into the depths of a wooden wilderness rife with the local colour of native inhabitants.
If you can't find it here - and you will have to hunt it here - then you really don't need it after all or at very least could make it with what you hunt and bag here. This is your old-school jumbled mess of man stuff all presented the way it should have remained up until Home Depot turned us all into women. Dudes working the store are helpful and know how to explain how something works in a way men prefer to have it explained; basically being like you already know how to do it and they are only giving commentary on form while all the time everyone knows you don't know how to actually do it but pretends you do. It's a man thing. You either get it or you're a chick. Nuff said. This is the last stand for MAN TOWN. Defend your Dumbstick. Trust your Testosterone. Shop here now.

You know those small town, tiny, cramped Ace Hardware stores? Well, this is it. Cramped, skinny isles, every space is used, you would probably knock something down if you sneezed. Why is it that every one of these have uneven floors or a step that has to be highlighted, even in England? It's GREAT! The aisles wind everywhere and it's just fun to go down every single one. They have almost EVERY thing, and fun stuff to boot, the employees are a hoot! I you love hardware stores, don't miss this one.

This place drives us nuts, to the extent that we never go in there any more unless we absolutely have to. It is hard to find anything, they never have exactly what you want, the prices aren't always on the shelves or the merchandise, their stuff is expensive, and half the time they can't find the items in the computer. I think the only reason they exist is that they are the only hardware store in the High Country east of Sonora. I always make a point of buying either in Sonora, which has three or four large stores, or even down in the Bay Area, rather than go in there.

Like your favorite family owned hardware store - they have an odd amalgamation of stuff you wouldn't expect to pick up when you run in to to get some Philips head screws, but damnit if you don't need a new ceramic cow and a frying pan while you're there. They've never not had what I needed, and the service is normally very helpful and friendly, even though I'm not a "local."
