We are a custom stair-builder specializing in all types of wood stairways and railings including Alternating-Tread, Open-Riser and Mono-Stringer. We stock thousands of stair parts in every wood species to expedite installation. Quality levels are high. Lead times are short. What's a Pre-built Stairway? A pre-built stairway is pre-manufactured in a shop much like a pre-hung door or roof truss and shipped to the jobsite as a complete unit. TOP TREAD STAIRWAYS produces a wood-framed stair system which is fully assembled in our shop (excluding railings). It is then carried through any door opening to its permanent location and is attached to standard framing.
Space-saving Stairs have been used widely in Europe for many years and now have become quite popular in the US with the rise of the Tiny House movement. A further boost has been given to the Space-saving staircase with several of the major building codes in the US allowing them. The IBC defines an ALTERNATING TREAD DEVICE as a device that has a series of steps between 50 and 70 degrees from horizontal. in an alternating manner so that the user does not have both feet on the same level at the same time.

Top Tread Stairways makes the best stairways I've ever seen! Using a combination of exotic & domestic wood, he built a winding stairway using fourteen (14) different woods - one for each of the fourteen steps capping it off with a virtually indestructible poly finish! "Impressive" is too light a word to use when viewing such a masterpiece of woodworking skill.
