In 1884, Dennis Mahoney purchased a small sawmill from Art Pritchard. From those humble beginnings in Mattapoisett, Massachusetts grew Mahoney's Building Supply. Over the next century, the employees and customers of Mahoney's Building Supply would weather economic depressions, two world wars, and countless changes in their lives, but would also come to know Mahoney's as a consistently trustworthy supplier of quality products and building materials.Changing with the times, Mahoney's would continue to evolve, at times selling ice and coal as well as building materials and garden supplies.

This store is just ok, could use some re organization. Giving it 5 stars solely for the little food truck outside the door off to the side. The people who run it deserve the recognition and I can't find them on Google to leave a review so this is where I shall leave it. The food is amazing and always hits the spot, and at a decent price as well. I have spoken.

Someone used my credit card NUMBER fraudulently at this establishment. Meaning they didn't have the physical card itself. You might be asking how's it the businesses fault? Any business that types in numbers of a credit card without the actual card present is a RED FLAG! I get it, some businesses have commonly used Credit Cards on file and use them whenever lets say a contractor phones in. Except I'm not a contractor nor do I even live remotely near there. Businesses should really start asking for ID when presented with credit card information.

I went to Mahoney's Biulding Supply shopping for white cedar shingles. Jason, at the contractor's counter, was very helpful and took the time to explain the difference between the grades of shingles. Even the yard man outside, took me to the building where they are stored to show me what they look like. And they have plenty. I went to the " box store supplier " and they need to be ordered and no sure when they would arrive. Jason and the yardman made the trip worth it, very polite and most of all they know what they are selling. I found a new place to get my building supplys.

I started a new project and have no idea how to proceed. I don't even know what kind of nails or screws to use. I went in to Mahoney's because it is in town and because it is not as intimidating as the big box stores. I was greeted by an employee at Mahoney's and he very patiently told me what I need to get, and how to proceed. This kind of service is just wonderful and just what I needed to get started.
I am very grateful and highly recommend new owners to go there. One more thing. Previously, I went to a big store to get four pieces of 1x4x8 to repair an outdoor stairs. Our of the four, one piece turns out to be so bowed and out of shape that I cannot use it. I brought it back to get a refund. I noticed all the lumber I get from Mahoney's has been of great quality.

Showed up when place was closed during holidays. Owner happened to be out front. He let me in even though it was closed and told just to come back when I can and pay him later! I was shocked at this old school treatment I thought had been gone for 40 years! What a nice guy to let me in and told me to Take what you need and pay me later as all the lights were off etc. He now has a customer for life! I will always go here first before any box store. Great selection for everything the house would need!
