Great customer service, selection, quality and delivery. The crew working on site is always very friendly and helpful. We were looking for cedar planks and got a tour of the various kinds and dimensions in the store, leaving with a couple of free samples. Came back and bought $2k of 1x4 WRC T&G and the quality of the wood is excellent. They also check the pieces before purchase/delivery to make sure that they are not damaged. I'm very happy with the purchase and customer service and will continue using this location for my future lumber needs.

We have been building during COVID and understand that many suppliers are struggling- especially in the lumber industry. We have spent close to $10,000 at Issaquah Cedar and Lumber this past year and half on a new constriction project. Cedar siding, window trim, fencing etc. Things have been going downhill at Issaquah Lumber - The last load that we picked up was missing 15% of our order.
We had to drive back to get the rest of the load. When loading your order they do not let you inspect each board - it is brought out in batches. We were given multiple moldy boards and boards that had mill saw cuts through the center of the boards? When we tried to exchange the boards we were told, "once it leaves the yard, it is yours." Seriously? Mill cuts are acceptable? We recommend that Issaquah Lumber works on their customer service and quality control.

I had a great experience here. I had some shingle siding damage to my house, and couldn't find just a couple shingles to repair my house with anywhere. Every place that had them wanted to sell me a whole box! A worker at Issaquah Cedar and Lumber gave me a handful of shingles that had fallen out of packages over time, and even a handful of nails to complete the job! The repair came out pretty well!

Custom ordered primed 1x10x 12' and 16' lft. Ordered with Sam. Did an amazing job with the order, getting back to me and guiding me throughout the process. Came back today to pickup the order and Brian helped me, significantly. I thought I was "smart" and could load up my outbacks interior with this. Big mistake! Luckily Brian was there to help me and loaded up the entire order on the roof racks.
He ratcheted them in and tagged the load for me so it was safe to drive. He saved me from having to pay for delivery on such a small order! Awesome Team guys. Thank you. Stef

Stopped in to try to get a replacement cap rail for a section of our deck that had some rot damage. The old board was probably 30-40 years old and in an unusual size. Andy helped us identify an economical replacement option, and then routed down the edges of the 10' board for us to match the curve on the original piece. The board is really beautiful -- kind of toyed with the idea of redoing the entire railing and staining rather than painting, but it wouldn't really work with the current design. Excellent materials and customer service. Will return for future needs.

This is by-far the BEST lumber mill/shop around! Family owned and operated, friendly, each employee has a wealth of knowledge-that we are happy to soak in- that they are happy to share and educate without looking down on us for lacking the specifics. Prices are comparable and at times unbelieveable because the quality and service you get would make you think it would be double and its NOT! It's well worth it.
So much so we drive one way 45 min to visit and will over and over. We are not professionals in any wood working trade and are more DIY homeowners. They are honest and It's a true pleasure to work with them. The honesty alone (aside from all the beautiful wood, prices and beautiful people) is what gets them return customers every time. Deliveries are always on time and projects come out better then what we expected. It's a true pleasure to work with you Stacey, Tate, Sam, Brian. Both my husband and I as well as my service dog appreciate each and every one of you. Stef

I made a special order for 10" x 1/2" bevel red cedar. It is an uncommon siding material to need but i put my order in Almost a week before they said they could have it ready and that it would be done on a monday by noon at the very latest i was told over and over again. I called monday morning to see if it was in the works or ready and was told it wasn't even started yet and that it would be and be finished by noon at the latest.
So i start my trip over an hour away to pick this material up and call them 3 qtrs of the way there to let them know im going to be there to pick up the lumber and they said its not finished yet and its not scheduled to be done until 3:30p.m. when i was promised no later than 12:00p.m. The 3rd person i spoke to was a woman who acted like i was nuisance for asking when the material would be done.
So i ask myself, what kind of business tells a customer who is paying almost $200.00 per piece for quite a few 16' boards that im purchasing this false information and treats them like they are getting in their way of facebook and instagram? Granted i understand that im not the only one ordering and they are busy, but having multiple people working there assuring you things will be done at a certain time at the latest, i will take you word for it.
If i say something is going to get done, it will be done at the time i saw it will be done. I just know this, if i had not had to use them because nowhere in washington supplys this kind of lumber and it is made to order, i would never think to drive over an hour away to use this companys services. This will be the last time i use Issaquah for any material related purposes due to their lack of care and compassion for customers and lieing to them on multiple occasions. If you order from Them make sure you continuously call and make sure they have your product in their hands before making the time to drive and pick things up.

We came in to inquire about wood planks for a tabletop and left armed with new knowledge and a wonderful experience. We explained what we were looking for and the salesperson gave us a few options and took us for a spin through the selection on hand and quality seemed really good. While we didn't end up purchasing anything, we did learn that we weren't going to be able to find what we were looking for anywhere, so we gave up on that dream.

Decided I wanted high quality wood for a special project and this was the first time I'd used Issaquah Cedar & Lumber. I had heard their prices were high and I expected high quality lumber for the price which I was willing to pay. Very helpful when ordering the wood during which I had asked about returning excess lumber and was told I could but there would be a restocking fee which I was okay with. However, when I went to return some of the wood I was told because it was "custom milled" they would not take it back (this had not been explained to me when I'd ordered the wood). Also, several pieces had checks and splits which I would not have expected from high quality lumber. They were not willing to offer up any kind of alternative solution to help make the situation "right". Drove away disappointed and likely will not use them again.

I was doing some deck repair and needed to replace a very unusually-sized cedar border. Was really glad I came here because they knew their stuff. Not only were they able to create just what I needed very quickly (promised Thursday, delivered Monday, three days earlier), it was also economical and aesthetically pleasing millwork. The only "problem" is the border looks so nice, I'm realizing how much the rest of the deck could use a refurbishing - a project for next summer, perhaps. But really, top notch work. Glad I popped in to ask about the work.

I've purchased cedar from Issaquah Cedar on multiple occassions and have had only wonderful experiences. The salespeople usually give great advice (they know their stuff!), which ended up saving me hours of labor and yielded a better result. Only once, the sales person gave me some bad advice, but I don't think he knew what I was doing. The other guy (when I was ready to order) corrected this and took the time to evaluate what I needed.
As a craftsman that produces unique work and prides himself on his customer service, I really appreciate the level of service I have received and the ability of Issaquah Cedar to work with my needs. The material (cedar, of course!) has been beautiful to behold and the yard smells so nice!

I purchased $40,000 worth of cedar siding and batu decking from Issaquah cedar for a large remodel, all milled and pre-stained. although (as with any order) there were several boards in each delivery that had issues, we made it work and didn't return a single board. Several months later I decided to build a bench with some of the extra materials, and took 3 of the leftover batu boards to issaquah to trim each board a 1/4" (straight-cut, one side). Incredibly, over the course of the next six months, they screwed up the millwork twice (once cut 1/4" more than requested, once cut the wrong edge) and when their replacement piece was too warped to use, they initially refused to accept the return. Again, this is after over $40,000 in business without a single return - and the only reason I needed another piece in the first place was their own screw-ups, twice-over.
It was pathetic. What I thought had been a good relationship quickly turned into a very bad experience with their crew and senior management upon the slightest issue. Another contractor I know used them for cedar decking, pre-stained, and the facility they used to pre-stain the wood did a crap job, with handprints all over one side of each board. I would advise against using them - and if you do, use with caution --

I recently purchased a quantity of S4S cedar 1 x4. Having been in the woodworking business for a number of years I know S4S means planed smooth on all 4 sides. That is an industry standard. I was surprised to find Issaquah Cedar does not adhere to this industry meaning. Some of the boards I received were rough on one side. When I complained I was told my material was primarily used for deck surfaces so the "bad" side could be turned down.
In my case I was using it for other than decking and reasonably assumed it would be good on all sides since it was sold with the surfaced four sides specification. Prior to leaving their yard when I pulled a few boards from the material they selected for me for exchange with "good" boards the young man who seemed to be in charge of the yard was extremely rude.
In the future if I deal with them again I believe I'll order extra material to account for the "bad" material. They allow returns so bringing the reject boards back will only be a slight inconvenience for me. I do wonder if they would accept back the reject boards though.

Incredibly helpful. Great quality product. Straight talk. After one visit I understand why they get so many great reviews. The quality of their boards is top notch (evidently they cut it themselves). Their fence grade cedar looks what what the rest of the big box world sells as clear. Every board in their stack is straight. They also sell old growth slab as well as ipe and decking options.
Not the cheapest, but so far the best I have found in the area by far. I previously went to Dunn for quality lumber but these guys are better. They don't do the specialty hardware/tools/cabinet-gear that Dunn does but for high quality cedar and other specialty wood they are my go-to.

A stopped by this place when shopping in the area and just have to say that if you have any desire to install cedar in any of your building projects than this is the place. It is like a shrine to cedar. The guys at the counter know way to much about the wood and the place has been around for something like 100 years. Amazing that places like this still exist in this area because almost everything else is a franchise or too shiny and new.
We purchased some decorative timber for both the interior and exterior of our vacation home and ended up installing a lot more cedar than we expected simply because a person can be sort of seduced by the selection they have and the staff has such a passion for it that you can easily over indulge - maybe not a bad thing compared to other ways you can go to far.
