They are WAY TO EXPENSIVE and their customer service needs improvement. For example, for a rear tine roto tiller Midway charges $150 for a "day" rental (7am to 5pm) or $90 for 4 hours, Bigsky Rental charges $75 for 24 hours and they are professional and competent. You will just be ripped off if you choose midway.

We rented an auger yesterday to dig some post holes. Unfortunately it did not work from the start. My husband traveled 30 miles to return it for repair (something about a screw that often needed to be replaced is what he was told). Returned home and tried it again and it still did not work. Returned it this morning expecting a refund (since we had to dig the holes by hand) and was told our dirt must be too hard. Given a 20% discount only. We have rented from Midway many times before; but I think we will be looking elsewhere next time.

We have rented from the Midway Rental for years. The service was exceptional with the previous owners. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case. I called on Monday, afternoon to rent a floor buffer. The woman who answered couldn't help me so she took my information and said someone would call me back. No one called back that day or by 10:00 am the following business day.
I called and Lance answered the phone, when I told him I had called the previous business day he just said they were busy. No apology. A simple, "so sorry about that, how can we help you now?" would have been greatly appreciated. He was curt as he took my reservation. It was not until I asked his manager's name at the end of the call did he change his vocal tone and even start to be polite. Unfortunately, this is not the first time since the new ownership I have been treated rudely. Such a sad state for what used to be a fantastic company.

Sorry to hear about your propane issues. If you it is really that big of an issue for you, I guess you could just spend the $2-3 your talking about in gas to drive to a big box store. I live in Whitefish as well-full time and have been a happy customer of Midway for quite a while. They always have been easy to work with and happy to line me out with what I need for bigger projects that I get into.

Is there a way to give this rental equipment yard a -5! I went in to fill up my 5 gallon propane tank and the guy at the office informed me that the price was $2.90 per gallon for propane! I had to ask again because I thought I heard him wrong! The Costco in Kalispell was selling their Propane at $1.74 per gallon, $1.16 per gallon less! And you know that Costco makes money on everything they touch!
With that said, what does it say about the Greed at Midway Rental! My family has a home in Whitefish and we will not spend a dime at this place for as long as it remains in business! I am hoping that since they feel the need to make twice as much profit as their competitors that they go out of business very soon! DON'T MESS WITH THE LOCALS THEY PAY YOUR BILLS AFTER THE TOURIST BUSINESS DROPS OFF!
I AM GETTING SICK AND TIRED OF THE GREED AND BAD ATTITUDE IN THIS COUNTRY AND I REFUSE TO FILL THOSE BUSINESS BUCKETS WITH MY MONEY! SO MY CHOICE IS TO SAY NO! STAY CLEAR OF THIS PLACE!

Generally like to leave positive reviews but unfortunately sometimes have to share some truth. I leave this in hopes the guys will take note and implement some protocol in the checkout procedures and reflect on their customer service. -Reserved a mixer on Monday for the following Friday. Received a call that it was broken, be fixed the next week. No calls after that. Called the next week. Spoke to Jeff (manager), he said he'd call right back.
No call Called again, reserved the mixer, picked it up on Friday. Should have ran it in the p-lot, we didn't. Got it home, started it and couldn't turn off. Both switches broken. Called midway and Jeff transferred to service. Service (Jim) says they are busy but maybe can send someone. Pleasure working with Jim. He said no charge, they are busy but gave me his cell to help fix it.
I located disconnected wires and started again. Pull cord came off. I pulled off the cage and fixed that. Clutch also did not work. Would not stay running. In addition, delivered without fuel. I purchased fuel, oil, and spent two hours fixing machine. Called in next morning (9am) and Lance said bring it back. I'm an hour away, already spent two weeks waiting, and have guys that I hired standing around.
I suggest they bring me a new one. Kevin brings new one (3pm) I return that one Monday morn (730am) and Lance had reservations about refund suggesting that "you used it right?" Yes, for a couple hours but I don't think that's the point. Is my future business (skid steer for a week) worth 60$? Thank you Jim and Kevin. Unfortunately I think there are more systemic issues in management.

Nice enough folks. I rented an auger from them twice. First time it was $69 with a $7 waiver which I felt was reasonable. Second time I come in they say they forgot the upcharge and it'll be $138 and then they make the waiver $14. I don't appreciate being upcharged double just because I am not renting their skidsteer with the auger. I really don't like the damage waiver being doubled because they decided to charge me double. $152 for one day for a piece of equipment I could buy for $1,500 is too steep.
When they can rent out equipment with a 5-10 year life span for 1/10th the value of buying it each day, their rates are a little high. I'll still rent from them if I absolutely must, but I've learned my lesson that if I'm going to use the item more than 3 times I'm better off buying it and selling it when I am done.
