Every staff I came in contact with was friendly! Charles Hop was the friendliest guy ever. He went out of his way to thoroughly explain to me what was wrong with my car and the best route to take to get it fixed. Once I bought the necessary part I had no choice but to come straight back here to get the work done by the way he helped me the first time! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Hop's Place is an automotive repair shop in Hampton where the owner has been in business for over 50 years. When I called about my problem with my car, the owner himself, Mr. Hopkins answered the phone. I told him the problem, he put me on hold for a few minutes, and then came back with this explanation to fix like he was a doctor. So much, that he used a doctors visit to describe how to fix my car.
In essence, he was saying, "In order to figure out whats wrong with your car, it needs to be seen. So I payed them a visit the same day. When I arrived, I wasn't really greeted, as a matter of fact they looked at me like I shouldn't be there. Eventually, someone ask if they could help me. I told them specific instructions given by Mr. Hopkins in the earlier phone call to ask for Linda.
They pointed me in her direction, she was mad busy and was a little disturbed that the owner suggested her personally to fix my problem. Linda, the service manager researched my vehicle problem and sent me to find their "Dodge Man" because he focuses on those type of cars. She took me to him and then he came back to the office. My problem with my car was something rare.
They researched parts, labor and set me up a time to bring my car in. I walked out a little unease at their ability to fix my car so I ask, "are you sure you can fix it?" They confidently assured me they could but I still had an "uneasiness" about it. I mean I felt like I was more of a pest to them than a customer. Even though they gave me a better price than the dealership for the repairs, I opted to pass on their service. Hop's place does a lot of general repairs on all makes and models of vehicles, however, I would err in the way of caution for new model vehicles. Hops at the time of my visit had only one certified mechanic. They are hiring for more which I hope they get soon. Otherwise, only on certain automotive needs will I visit again.

Hops place is ridiculous when it comes to inspection. My truck was there all day up until almost closing time. They didn't get to it until 15mins before they close. The inspector is a older gentleman good guy I would imagine but when it comes to his job he is slow and blind meaning you can take your car there he will pass some of the worst cars I have seen.
But fail some of the best cars I have seen. I have taken my truck there 3 years in a row and never had a issue with window tint now all of a sudden my tint is a issue. He did not use a tint meter but then says my tint is to dark. Then I took my motorcycle there and he says he can't see my brake lights but the tech next to him saw them. So I took my vehicles else where and passes no issues.
I spoke to the owner and he basically just brushed me off. If state troopers actually inspected this place they would find out that there inspector needs more training. They need to be suspended! I use to send them a lot of business cars that would not pass inspection at other places but would there. Its hit or miss with there inspector!

Hops place is incredible. They have a deep sense of loyalty and honesty to there customers. They have always welcomed us with opened arms and never ripped us off. I trust them 100% with our vehicles. Even if it takes a while to get the cars back I know they won't destroy my car and stand by there work. Especially having a mechanic who has 35 yrs + experience is awesome. Been there 4 times and has always an awesome experience.

They have a few useful things here, but holy cow is the service abismal. Even as a professional, in uniform, asking for something common that they DO stock, they just look at you like they can't believe you need help. The first time I came, the lady told me they didn't have something that my friend went and got from them about 20 minutes later. As a 10 year veteran in the auto reconditioning game, I am not coming back here.
